  • Description

    Hi everyone!
My name is Vera, Dutchy by nature but I'm starting to feel less like it every day. I've been living in the Netherlands for about 28 years now, but it's starting to feel more cramped as the time goes by. I really miss being out in nature and having the peace and quiet around me.

I've always been interested in other cultures and getting to know the local people. There is just always something new to learn from each and every person :).
I have now also started on the path to gaining new knowledge about more practical things in life! I've already done a bit of woodworking (learning how to use all sorts of machines), but I still have a way to go and would love to get some more experience in this. Next to that, I love working with animals. I studied animal science but it went a bit downhill from there. I got into the IT sector and have been working in it for 5 years now. I have been getting gradually more unhappy about doing a desk job, so I am very much looking to spend a lot more time outside. I also have a small garden in which I love watching the flowers grow each year and watching the birds come by as I feed them.

I did some volunteer work for 2.5 years or so in a wildlife rehabilitation center as an animal caretaker (cleaning and feeding mostly). I loved learning more about all sorts of birds there!

I would say I am a very open minded, practical and caring person. I can be a bit serious from time to time, but I would like to learn to live more again. The joy has been taken out of life a little sadly. In my free time I like to bake sweets, play boardgames (or online games with friends), go to the sauna, macrame, in summer do some gardening, hiking, puzzles, try my hand at woodworking, read, play piano every now and then.. enough to do and so little time!

I would love it if I could also learn some Slovene while I'm here as well! It's a difficult language and it will definitely take some time to learn. I hope to make some friends as well, meeting people when you're older can be difficult too!

Anyways, this has been long enough I'd say. I would love to get to know you and your way of life! I'm all about self-improvement and learning to love myself right now. I hope I'm on the right path. I hope to see you there!
    Love,
    Vera
