Hi! I’m Thomas from Switzerland, and I work as a journalist for a Swiss news magazine. I love travelling—especially by bike—and I’m happiest when travel includes real teamwork, shared meals, and the kind of everyday life you only get by living and working with others.
At the beginning of June, I’m planning to pack my bags, jump on my bike, and head south. I’m looking for a welcoming host—ideally an organic farm or an inspiring cultural project—where there’s a lively atmosphere and several Workawayers or volunteers working together.
What I bring: I’m not a trained craftsman—I’m a writer by profession—but I’m reliable, practical, and not afraid of getting my hands dirty. I’m happy with physical work and daily routines: planting, harvesting, caring for animals, composting, weeding, cooking, cleaning, helping with markets or events, basic maintenance—whatever needs doing.
I’m especially interested in places that value sustainability, organic practices, and cultural exchange—projects where people live and work together and where there’s something to learn beyond the tasks themselves.
And one more thing: if you’re willing to speak only Italian with me, even better—I’d love the immersion.

Ciao! Sono Thomas, vengo dalla Svizzera e lavoro come giornalista per una rivista svizzera. Adoro viaggiare, soprattutto in bicicletta, e sono felice quando il viaggio prevede un vero lavoro di squadra, pasti condivisi e quel tipo di vita quotidiana che si può vivere solo vivendo e lavorando con gli altri.
All'inizio di giugno ho in programma di fare le valigie, saltare sulla mia bicicletta e dirigermi verso sud. Sto cercando un ospite accogliente, idealmente una fattoria biologica o un progetto culturale stimolante, dove ci sia un'atmosfera vivace e diversi Workawayers o volontari che lavorano insieme.
Cosa offro: non sono un artigiano qualificato, sono uno scrittore di professione, ma sono affidabile, pratico e non ho paura di sporcarmi le mani. Mi piacciono il lavoro fisico e le routine quotidiane: piantare, raccogliere, prendersi cura degli animali, fare il compostaggio, diserbare, cucinare, pulire, aiutare nei mercati o negli eventi, fare manutenzione di base... qualsiasi cosa ci sia da fare.
Sono particolarmente interessato a luoghi che valorizzano la sostenibilità, le pratiche biologiche e lo scambio culturale, progetti in cui le persone vivono e lavorano insieme e dove c'è qualcosa da imparare al di là dei compiti stessi.
E un'altra cosa: se siete disposti a parlare solo italiano con me, ancora meglio, mi piacerebbe immergermi nella lingua.

I'm not the typical handyman, but I don't mind getting my hands dirty. I like chopping fire wood, for example. Or cutting grass. Or weeding. Or looking after goats (and I'd like to learn how to milk them!). And I can help with texts, photos or – to a certain extent – with websites, too.
