  • Description

Hello ! I'm Pauline (woman, 20 years old) and I study geography in Belgium. I already did a wwoofing in Norway and this summer I had a workaway in Denmark, and will probably go back in the North next summer. Some infos about me :

With about 10 other students I am part of a project around "voluntary simplicity" (sounds better in French I promise) wich aims to raise awarness (among the student population) on how consuming and frantinc our society is and that we can't keep going like that. We mainly work on 3 axes : alternative way of life (in community and/or in eco-habitat), figth against overconsumption and well-being (on a mental point of view). We live together in a student accomodation and share almost all the food, we eat together and have a weekly meeting to discuss our project. Being part of this project taught me to work in team, to organize small events, to settle conflicts in a communicative approach and to slow down in life.

This lead me to experience, love and learn about community life, and that's someting I'd like to deepen : we're all students, living in a relatively small city with a big majority of student and I'm curious to see the difference in a more rural context or with families and how each person manages their personnal and communal time. Maybe I can also share some of my learnings !

I've been vegetarian for a year and I sometimes cook for my vegan friends but I still lack recipes ideas and knowledge so I would love to learn more about plant-based diet and nutrition.

I started meditating but I lack consistency so I'd love to be in place that encourages me into that and to learn practices to move and listen to my body, such as yoga.

I'd like to surround myself with people that are aware of the current state of the world, the environmental and social crisis we're going through and to get the chance to discuss subjects like eco-feminism, anticapitalism, alternative living, what we can do to resist. I know that I still have a lot of things and internalized prejudices to deconstruct but I consider myself to be an open minded person and willing to try seeing things from another perspective.

Recently I started doing origami and embroidery and it would be really nice to get a chance to develop this artistic side?

  • More details about your skills

I can help in the kitchen if I'm given instructions (it seems like I have very weird taste and my friends often don't like what I cook for myself so I think it's best for you if I don't have to improvise a recipe).

I rode horses for many years when I was a child and I still help at the stables and volunteered on a farm last year so I can help with basic stable/farm work such as easy fixing fences, cleaning buckets, preparing food,...

I can help in the garden or in the house (cleaning, tidying up,...) but I'd prefer not to spend most of my time on that (but I can help if necessary !)

I'm a fast learner so I can help with a lot of things and adapt, I would love learn more about repairing things.
That being said I don't tolerate sun and heat very well so I would appreciate if most of my work could be done in the shadow. I'm not the fittest person on earth so I avoid lifting heavy things (it doesn't mean that I can't do manual labor though) and climbing rooves or ladders (fear of heights and don't feel very safe)
