 - Description- Hello everyone, my name is Sophia!
I am a traveller from Germany with a fondness for languages, music, and the small things in life.
I am currently at the end of my studies to become a grammar school teacher for English and French. Having spent a year at universities in Brittany and Wales, I have come to love the freedom of living abroad.
That is why I am currently doing an internship in Windhoek — before I am going to start working at school for good, I hope to meet people from backgrounds wildly different from my own and thereby challenge my eurocentric perspective. I want to absorb a diversity of cultures and lifestyles to be able to authentically encourage my future multicultural students to approach the world with curiosity, respect and an open mind.
On my travels, I am eager to lend my hands, heart, and brains to social and ecological projects, learn new skills and people‘s stories along the way, and make an impact where I go.

 - Languages- Languages spoken
 German: Fluent

 French: Intermediate
Swedish: Beginner- More details about my language interests
As a soon-to-be teacher of English and French, I am always happy to practise my English and perfect my French speaking skills. I have fun learning languages with foreign alphabets (e.g. Yiddish, Russian) and would love to learn some Afrikaans or local African language. Of course, I would also be glad to teach you some German, English, or French!
 - Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn- I'm interested in:- Art Projects - Being an elderly companion - DIY and building projects - General Maintenance - Eco Projects - Some knowledge of:- Gardening - Helping around the house - Creating/ Cooking family meals - Animal Care - Charity Work - Babysitting and creative play - Life at a Farmstay - Able to teach about:- Languages - Teaching - Helping with Computers/ Internet
 - More details about your skills- To deep-dive into local Namibian and South African life, I would love to work on a farm during my summer holidays in December and January 2025/26.
I have spent a month on a small French farm doing a lot of gardening, caring for the animals, helping with maintenance and transforming a chill-out area. An African farm will work on a much bigger scale but I am a fast learner and eager to acquire new skills all around the house, garden, and animals.
My family are all great amateur gardeners and I love growing veggies on my balcony — my hands are just waiting to get dirty on a new project.
I have some experience with children as I have been an intern at half a dozen schools, and have worked with kids at Sunday School at my church. I have two budgies that I love, and always wanted to work with animals, especially dogs and horses.
I am a tidy and thoughtful person and happy to help with any household and general maintenance chores. I can cook and cherish opportunities to learn new recipes.
 - Age- 23
 - What else ...- I love travelling on my own and by car, as it grants me independence and just the right thrill of adventure to contrast my everyday life at university.
I am drawn to artsy and aesthetic things, and spend my free time taking photos or videos, doing calligraphy, reading novels, poetry, and the newspaper, and writing little bits and pieces from time to time.
I love music and have been a singer in a church choir since I was a child. In my university town, I volunteer with a charity that supports socially deprived students to develop their full potentials through mentoring.
