Hi, I'm Sofia, 26 years old, and I'm from Berlin.

Through Workaway, I hope to experience life in a more rural setting while improving my English. I am looking for a place where everyday life is the focus, where people, animals, and nature are closely connected with mutual respect and appreciation.

I am more drawn to nature and quiet exploration than to sunshine or typical tourist activities. I feel especially connected to northern, raw landscapes with changing weather, wide open spaces, coastlines and rural areas. What interests me about regions like Ireland, Norway, Iceland or Canada is their strong connection to nature, tradition and a slower rhythm of life.

I am motivated by a well-organized day and the feeling of having really achieved something. I like to work step by step, concentrating on one task and seeing it through to completion. Creative and craft work is very important to me — sewing, knitting or practical activities help me to calm down and feel grounded, especially in the evenings.

Animals have always been part of my life. I grew up with various animals and have had close contact with horses since childhood. I rode horses until my teenage years, and even after a longer break, I remained connected to animals through friends and daily contact. Today, I still enjoy spending quiet time with our family dog and around friends’ horses, which I find very calming.

For me, animals represent presence and honesty. They communicate clearly through body language and require attention, respect and calmness. Being around animals and in nature gives me inner peace and strength, and I find this type of work emotionally grounding and meaningful.
I am ambitious, persistent and enjoy completing tasks thoroughly. I am comfortable with both thoughtful, cognitive work and physical, hands-on tasks, and I am not afraid to get involved in daily routines or practical responsibilities.

After completing my studies in business administration, I spent the last two years working in the management field. While this experience strengthened my analytical thinking and sense of structure, I now feel a strong wish to return to more tangible, meaningful tasks and to work closer to everyday life, nature and real responsibility.

Exploring a region for me means moving at a calm pace, observing, listening and gradually understanding how people live and work there. I appreciate landscapes that feel honest and shaped by nature, and I value a friendly and respectful atmosphere. I am adaptable, enjoy being part of family life, and am also comfortable spending quiet time on my own.

I am well organized and structured, have a strong sense of responsibility, and am reliable in completing my daily tasks. I enjoy working with clear processes, take responsibility for my tasks, and make a consistent contribution to everyday work.
After studying business administration, I worked in the hotel industry for two years, mainly in marketing, strategic organization, and SEO, combined with regular customer contact. This background has strengthened my communication skills and my ability to work calmly and professionally with different people.
German is my native language and I speak English well. During my six-month stay in New York, I gained confidence in everyday and work-related communication.
I am very practical and have four years of experience in a pastry shop. I am familiar with cooking and baking, and working cleanly and carefully in a kitchen environment comes naturally to me.
Having lived independently for many years, housekeeping, cleaning, organizing, and assisting with daily routines are part of my everyday experience. I enjoy learning new skills, adapting to new environments, and helping wherever support is needed.
