Description
Hey there !
We are Skyler (27) and Dillon (27), a young couple from South Africa. We both share a passion for travel, seeing new places, meeting new people and learning about different cultures and lifestyles.🤍
Skyler is an Occupational Therapist by profession, however has been travelling and doing seasonal work (hospitality based) to keep the adventure going for the past 3 years.
Skyler's travel journey began first with a backpacking trip (as students) with her ex-husband, Lance, where they covered majority of Thailand and Cambodia and caught the "Travel bug" 😉. In 2023 they sold all our belongings and quit their jobs and travelled from South Africa to Egypt using public transport (except for flying over Sudan and Ethiopia). It was an INCREDIBLE journey!! They had planned to immigrate to Ireland after the "6 month trip" but once again couldn't shake the travel addiction, so instead found seasonal jobs around the world and continued to travel to Asia too.
Life took an unexpected turn and Skyler and Lance got divorced but Skyler is still travelling and experiencing the world by herself or with friends. Recently met Dillon through the shared passion of travelking and seeing the world and so now will embark on a trip together.
Skyler has a passion for helping anyone in need, especially the disabled community as well as loves working with young kiddies. She works in the front of house sector in hospitality, as a stewardess on superyachts and in Antarctica during her seasonal work and therefore has refined her guest interaction, service and housekeeping skills. She is also very creative and loves all things arts and craft, such as painting, drawing, crocheting, macrame, you name it.
Skyler documents her travels through photo and videos on Instagram for personal use, but has also used these skills to create content professionally for hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and experiences to make some extra money or in exchange for food and accommodation.
Dillon is a first-time backpacker with a genuine excitement to explore the world and embrace new experiences. He’s an active and outdoorsy person who loves sports, nature, hiking, and gardening, with a real knack for growing and caring for plants. Down to earth and easygoing, Dillon brings a positive attitude and fits in well with different people and environments. He takes pride in being tidy, neat, and organized, and is always happy to get involved in general maintenance or DIY tasks. Creative by nature, he enjoys social media content creation and capturing meaningful moments. He’s great with children and animals, and is always willing to learn, help out, and contribute wherever he’s needed.
I, Skyler have loved all of my previous workaway stays through africa and Asia and i am so excited for my next part of this journey and to share these completely new experiences with Dillon. I started this workaway journey to learn about and immerse myself in a variety of cultures and experience travel together.
Dillon and I would like to make ourselves useful by providing our skills to anyone that may benefit, while making new friends and connections simultaneously. ✨️
