Aloha, I'm Joy.

After traveling the world for nearly a decade, I feel (almost) ready to settle down with one leg at least. I’m dreaming of being self-sufficient, living and building in a way that is in harmony with nature. There are many people out here with their own creative takes on this, and I hope to learn from you, be inspired by you, and find my own path in all this.

It's why I am seeking nature-based places that value autonomy, clear communication, and the nourishment of body, mind, and soul. I thrive best in peaceful home bases with authentic connections where mutual respect is the baseline.

My background is rooted in banking and high-tier property management, meaning I don't need to be supervised or entertained. Instead, I am here to lighten your load by being the calm, reliable force in the background that ensures things flow. Volunteering across various countries on farms, guesthouses, and community projects helps me see the practical angles, while my experience as a published author, a certified yoga teacher, and my training in Qigong allow for lightness and flexibility in my actions.

I love the physical work of landscaping, gardening, and DIY tasks, and I am equally at home holding a shovel, a paintbrush, or holding space for gentle, mindful movement. I bring presence, deep respect for your home, and a genuine wish to learn and contribute to self-sufficient living.

• Hospitality & house care
I’ve helped manage and improve several guest spaces, including a guesthouse in France and different Airbnb properties. I’m used to preparing rooms for guests, changing beds, cleaning bathrooms, noticing details and keeping spaces welcoming. I’m happy doing quiet background work like laundry, dishes and general house care.

• Gardening, animals & outdoor work
I grew up around gardens and animals, and I feel very comfortable with basic farm and outdoor tasks – weeding, watering, planting, mowing, shovelling, carrying things, helping with small repairs. I enjoy caring for animals (especially dogs, cats and chickens) and keeping their spaces clean.

• Cooking, baking & events
I like cooking simple, healthy meals and baking treats, especially for small groups or families. In the past I’ve helped cook and serve food for larger community events and celebrations, so I’m used to working in a busy kitchen and cleaning up afterwards.

• Organising, projects & kids
I have experience organising community projects, kids’ activities and small events, making sure things flow and everyone knows what’s happening. I get along well with children and have helped run summer camps and church programmes with games, crafts and outdoor time.

• DIY & practical help
Over the years I’ve helped with many basic DIY tasks: sanding and painting, assembling furniture, simple woodwork, moving and rearranging spaces, and general “we need an extra pair of hands” jobs. I like learning how to use new tools safely.

• Languages, writing & teaching
I’m fluent in German and English and currently studying Japanese (beginner level but motivated). I’m a published author and can help with writing or editing English content for websites, information sheets or signs. I’m also a certified yoga teacher, trained in Qigong, and happy to share gentle movement or stretching sessions if it fits your place.
