More details about your skills
I am a n RVN (registered veterinary nurse) and have been working in animal hospitals and clinics (both private practice and charity) for 9 years. My work involves assisting vets with dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals, looking after patients during (monitoring anaesthesia) and after surgery, doing x-rays, administering medication both orally and by subcutaneous injection, running blood and urine tests and assisting clients over the phone and in person.
I am passionate about animal welfare and caring for my patients, and I worked in an RSPCA (major national welfare charity in the UK) hospital for three years. At the hospital we specialised in stray animals, cruelty cases and wildlife, as well as providing a low cost service for pets whose owners were on government benefits and unable to afford private veterinary treatment.
As well as experience with dogs, cats, small furries, exotic pets and British wildlife, I have also volunteered at a city farm in London caring for sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, donkeys and other farm animals. I also volunteer at a wildlife hospital, nursing British wildlife from foxes to wild birds.
I also have a keen interest in gardening and would love to learn more about crop farming.
In 2016 I spent a week in Nepal on a local family-run permaculture farm in Kathmandu and it 2022 helped a small farm animal rescue in Slovakia. I would love to get involved in other farming / animal care projects overseas.
I'm also a journalism graduate and have experience writing for newspapers / magazines etc, so I could help with those sorts of things too.
