Hello, I'm Sophie. I love to try new things and collect good stories!
Making art and gadgets is one of my favourite hobbies, there's so much space to experiment with new things, I feel I'll never have enough time to learn it all but I'll try ;). I am in my first year of BSc Physics at York and have a huge passion for sustainable energy and living.
I grew up in the countryside and holidayed on the hills and coast of England and Wales so I have a great appreciation for the sea and the fresh air of green spaces. I'm so excited to see what the rest of the world has to offer :D.

My mother can speak Spanish and a little bit of Greek but we've only exchanged short sentences. I would love to learn a bit of Spanish and speak more fluently like my mum.

I've always pushed my social skills out of my comfort zone since I am naturally quite a shy person. I performed speeches in high school and became senior prefect which included organising charity events and supporting younger students. After enjoying those responsibilities I was an Xtra at my college to engage prospective students. Since being at Uni I've been asked to help support the physics society next semester which I'm greatly looking forward too.
I've been involved in projects to send experiments into space with the company KMF in high school which meant we made a solar powered dance floor, used a helium balloon to send it into the atmosphere and generated electricity using wind power on the descent. I completed my level 2 qualification in physics, design and technology and level 3 in art and design, achieving the highest ranked grades - but what mattered most is I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
