Description
Hello! My name is Roos, 26 year old female from the Netherlands. I am currently finishing my Erasmus semester in Istanbul, Turkey and will be freshly graduated from my master Philosophy of Contemporary Challenges in January 2026. Currently, I am looking for opportunities to extend my time abroad as a volunteer. Since my dream is to work for a humanitarian NGO, I would love to gain experience in this field.
I would love to work at an NGO project, that is aimed at empowering people, connecting different cultures and/or providing humanitarian relief. I am open to lots of different positions, mostly feeling part of a team and taking responsibility in contributing to a collective good.
I am humble, grateful and a fast learner with a curious mind. I believe I am full of e mpathy and I'm good working with people, always aiming to empower my friends and loved ones in their own strength. Moreover, I am a hard worker, with lots of experience in the field of hospitality and also office work. In the end, I would love to learn new skills, cultures and languages (recently, I have taken up learning Turkish, but I'm also interested in learning Greek and Arabic), relevant to the field of NGO work and/or humanitarian aid.
Besides work, I am interested in reading novels and philosophy, making music, drawing, sewing, cooking (vegetarian), visiting museums and going on hikes or little camping trips.
I am open to staying for both long and short-term projects, and would love to connect to engage in further contact!

More details about your skills
When it comes to working experience, I mostly have experience in the field of hospitality (working as a waitress and host in bars, café's and restaurants) and doing office work. For my most recent work experience, I coordinated the front office and Boxoffice of a theatre, overseeing a small team of employees and working tightly with the other staff members. I have taken up skills in planning, overseeing various responsibilities, event production, customer service and handling payments. Moreover, I took up these skills in the context of a cultural environment.
The theatre I worked at, was more or less a cultural hub and safe space for people with different cultural backgrounds, gender identity and other identity intersections. I truly value a workspace that similarly offers a place where they can develop their skills within the safety of respect to their diverse backgrounds.
Both in my work and personal life, I believe that I have a good feeling for working with people. These were always the part of my job that I loved the most, connecting with the people and helping them where possible. I am sensitive to cultural differences and always open to learn about new perspectives.

What else ...
I mentioned some hobby's in my general description (reading, making music, drawing, cooking, visiting museum, going on hikes). Specifically, I love reading novels or philosophy books, playing the piano or singing and jamming with friends, drawing portraits, cooking vegetarian food and hosting my friends for dinners at my place, and visiting art museums or historical/cultural sites. When I find the time, I also like to go for a run, biking, swimming or do some yoga. And I love just being around people and joking around :)
As a student, I held special interest in topics of feminism, vulnerability, political community and human rights. This is something I want to keep learning about, both by doing research, gaining hands-on experience and meeting people with interesting stories and personal specializations and knowledge.
