  • Description

I am on a journey - following my track in life - learning to work with the land to grow my own food and sustain a life that is connected with the earth and celebrates diversity - diversity of culture, language, religion, climate, landscape, species.... I am inspired by Indigenous peoples' understanding of, and relationship to, the earth. I love permaculture - it's way of understanding the patterns of nature and designing for sustainability and abundance.

  • More details about your skills

I love working on the land; I grew up on a small property in the south-east of Australia, with sheep and chooks and dogs, a big veggie garden and an old orchard. I have done my Permaculture Design Certificate online with Geoff Lawton; did a one month internship with him at the Greening the Desert project in Jordan and am now a volunteer teaching assistant with his team for the 2022 online PDC. I did my second PDC at Aranya in India in August 2024.
I travelled to Iran and saw the many ways they used design and architecture to survive in a harsh climate using natural energies like solar, wind, earth, gravity. I have volunteered on organic farms in Australia and South Africa, from simple homesteading to market gardening and holistic management. I spent a year in 2020 at Navdanya Biodiversity Conservation Farm in north-west India, getting hands into the soil, learning about traditional Indian agriculture and saving seeds, with a focus on indigenous wheat and rice varieties. I returned to India again in 2022 and 2024 and have been visiting organic and permaculture farms, living in communities, working in natural building etc.
