  • Description

Hi, my name is Rintaro. I am a university student from Japan, currently studying abroad in University of Oregon as an exchange student. I enjoy learning through real experiences, especially by working with people and being close to nature.

One experience that strongly shaped me was helping a local farmer in Akita, Japan. Through that work, I learned how much effort farming takes, and I started to enjoy simple but meaningful work such as helping in the field, communicating with local people, and supporting someone’s daily life. I like work that makes me feel connected to people and the place around me.

I have also played soccer for many years, so I am used to teamwork, physical activity, and not giving up easily. Soccer taught me discipline, communication, and respect for others.

I am interested in Workaway because I want to meet new people, learn different ways of living, and contribute through honest work. I may still have many things to learn, but I am responsible, open-minded, and willing to help wherever I can.

More details about my language interests
I am a native Japanese speaker, so I would be happy to help people learn Japanese through simple conversation, basic phrases, or cultural exchange. I also speak English, so I can communicate in English during the stay. I am interested in learning Spanish, although I am a complete beginner right now. I cannot really speak it yet, but I would be happy to learn if I have the chance.

  • More details about your skills

I do not have professional farming experience yet, but I am comfortable with physical work and I am willing to learn. In Japan, I regularly helped a local farmer, so I understand that farm work takes patience and consistency. I can help with basic outdoor tasks like cleaning, weeding, carrying things, harvest support, or other daily work that the host needs.

I have played soccer for many years, so I am used to being active and working with other people. Soccer taught me to listen, keep going when things are difficult, and support the people around me. I think these habits are useful in Workaway too.

I can speak Japanese and English, so I may also be able to help with simple translation or cultural exchange. I am still learning, but I try to be reliable and respectful in any place I join.

  • What else ...

I enjoy helping with farm work because it lets me learn through real experience. In Japan, I helped a local farmer, and that made me more interested in rural life, food, and the effort behind farming. I am not a professional, but I like working outside and learning from people who have real experience.

In my free time, I like staying active. I have played soccer for many years, so sports have been a big part of my life. I also enjoy fishing sometimes. For me, it is more about relaxing, being near water, and enjoying a quiet moment.

I am also interested in learning about local culture and daily life in different places. I hope Workaway can be a chance to meet people, help with meaningful work, and learn from a different way of living.
