We love the outdoors, and are very flexible work wise and practical people

I enjoy and have experience working with animals, I hike a lot, and love to cook. After raising our two children I am enjoying life traveling in our camper van together and exploring new places. (Nick)

After having worked and lived in a number of different countries around the world, and with our 2 adult children having left the house, we decided to sell our house in Holland and travel/ explore Europe with our dog in our self build campervan for a few years.

I enjoy spending time out, exploring new places and a meeting different people. Finding it very difficult to sit stil I am always looking for new challenges, preferably involving physical activity. I am a keen (trail) runner and (mountain) biker. Although I am not a craftsman by trade, I increasingly have taken on more serious DIY jobs, with the building of our own (off grid) campervan recently perhaps a good example (Rob)

NICK : I’m very good with animals, Im a professional dog groomer, I have worked with domesticated animals and farm livestock in small farms , I can cook well, am organised and work well under pressure, also with bar /waitressing experience, most recently have been employed as warehouse manager for an online shopping company

ROB: I am a good organiser and like to ‘dig in’ where possible. You could say that I am a bit of a ‘jack of all trades , master of none’ - having done many DIY jobs around the house and building our campervan. No problem with hard physical labour.

Nick and Rob have truly been my "Dream Team"!!!

Any and every finca project I put forth, regardless of base material fabric, paint, wood, cement , tile or other..., they embraced with their natural enthusiasm, their experienced skills and their deep rooted dedication to the task.

We started off with traditional projects such as organising store… read more and garage, modifying furniture in structure or look, and within 1st month we rehabilitated the entire 3 bedroom guest wind (used in past year as clutter rooms) to be in picture perfect conditions. This included ensuring all practical aspects were addressed: an din working order (electric, plumbing and ...the pain stacking rehabilitation of the mosquitos doors).

We then moved onto more esoteric projects that involved pure problem solving so to make fit the right looking piece to match the space nefer deterring from the overall desired funky yet homogenous look. So out of the attic came doors, windows, shutters and more that got reassembled and have at last found renewed purpose and glory.

Lastly given that neither had Nick or Rob done any tile work, seemed fit to tackle some big scale project of combo laying floor tiles with modified large mosaics inserts to cover the 100m2 of the guest wing patio.That is how some of Nick´s creative director gardening work is now immortalised in her Spanish flower garden.

I have to say that never have I had in my 24 years on finca anyone as capable as Nick and Rob to embrace the fun of getting stuck into "making the unusual work" and with such dynamic motivation as was for their own home. I also want to comment that they worked hand in hand and same positve spirit to assist the project of roofing the new solar shed structure being built by a hired professional

The icing on the cake is that Nick is a great cook and a "feeder". So we enjoyed her carefully thought out delicious meals on regular basis.
Even my dogs and cats went frequently begging to the "food van" to get special gourmet treats from Nick and my visiting 3 year old grand daughter csoon caught on that a iceloolyu treat was always to be had from Rob. So I can vouch that both are super animal and child attentive and caring.
I must also add that Travis their 10 year old black lab, fit in perfectly with my dogs or cats.

Lastly please know all our working hours and social time were filled with great humor, respect and genuine human concern for the well being of each other which truly made our 3 months together fly by. I will miss them and wish them the very very best, and am very grateful to have had via Workaway the opportunity to make such great friends.

In my opinion, if you are a host and they contact you.... "just book them immediately"!
Otherwise if you read my review and you are a host seeking a wonderful double set of hands and full on human qualities, just send them a text and they may set course your way in their own search for the perfect spot to settle, the reason why Nick and Rob are currently touring Southern EU. So please help them discover scenic hospitable areas.

In conclusion though Nick and Rob are new to Workaway and without sufficient time on program for feed backs or badges, in my opinion they truly already deserve the best Workawayer badge possible!

We landed at Danielle’s by chance, she had a gap in her Workaway calendar and we had two weeks free, we enjoyed the experience, being our first.. Danielle rewards the work you do with delicious meals prepared for you, and you will be busy, with her gorgeous cats and evolving garden area, you won’t be bored.
