Description
We are the Rowe family from New Zealand—Mum (Natalie), Dad (Jason), and our two daughters, Kayla (13) and Ella (11). We have swapped our everyday routine for a 12-month world adventure to explore new cultures, connect as a family, and learn from life beyond the classroom and workplace.
Jason is a plumber by trade—hands-on, solution-focused, and always up for a challenge.
Natalie is a Radiation Therapist—compassionate, curious, and always has a plan (and a travel spreadsheet).
Kayla is our thoughtful 13-year-old—an animal lover, sports enthusiast, and often found with her nose in a book or exploring something new about the world.
Ella is our imaginative 10-year-old—energetic, inquisitive, and brimming with creative ideas (especially when it comes to food, and fun).
As a family, we love sports, the outdoors, and discovering new food and experiences wherever we go. This "gap year as a family" is a chance to pause, reset, and grow together. From ancient ruins in Europe to night markets in Asia—and all the surprises in between—we’re soaking up life’s lessons as we go, one country at a time.
Workaway offers us the chance to learn new skills, immerse ourselves in different cultures, connect with fascinating people, and be part of a community. We are eager to contribute our energy, ideas, and helping hands wherever we are needed, while sharing laughs, stories, and maybe even a home-cooked meal.

Over the past 15 years in New Zealand, we’ve renovated several homes, combining Jason’s practical skills with Natalie’s eye for detail. Our projects are a true family affair—our daughters have grown up right alongside the action.
