Description

I have lived and traveled extensively abroad for years. I traveled in Latin America for three years working with ecovillages, permaculture farms, building/construction projects, gardening and environmental projects. Most of my background has been in office administration/operations including logistics, human resources, office management and bookkeeping. I recently worked for 1.5 years in admin, human resources and farm work for an organic farm in Florida where we also cared for the animals there.

I am currently with my 12 year old in Colombia. She is extremely passionate about working with animals and the environment. We are taking this year to travel and expose her to various volunteering projects. We just came from Costa Rica visiting various animal sanctuaries.

I graduated with my Masters in International Development from the Universitat van Amsterdam.

I have been teaching English as a second language for over two years. One of those years was teaching in Bogota, Colombia in 2010.

I have extensive farming experience in both field work and management and my daughter is passionate about animal care and wildlife conservation.

We are looking for places to stay and volunteer with animals and conservation, sustainable projects.

I also have hands on experience in building and alternative building. I'm not an expert, but have worked on small construction projects both traveling and in the US working with rammed earth, cobb, strawbale building. I'm very excited to potentially find a place where I can continue gaining experience in building - especially natural building techniques.

Permaculture: I received my Permaculture Design Certificate in 2007 from Scott Pittman. I have worked on numerous projects in Latin America. I traveled in Latin America for three years working with ecovillages, farms, permaculture projects and sustainable projects. I also did freelance edible and xeriscaping in Florida and had my own small medicinal and permaculture plant nursery.

Gardening/Farming: I have worked on three farms professionally. I have field experience as well as administrative and operations experience with farms. I helped manage a community garden in Orlando Florida. I worked in Administrative management and Human Resources as well as field work, animal care, nursery work, deliveries and logistics for an organic farm in north Florida for 1.5 years. In total, I have over 12 years working on farms and permaculture projects.

Building: I just finished a DIY project converting a box truck into a camper. I worked on a Lakota Reservation for 8 months helping to build a strawbale building and rammed earth insulation for a cabin. I helped build a cobb green house in Ecuador. I built composting systems and grey water systems for various projects.

Office management/administration: I have over 15 years' experience working in administration, office management and operations for international freight companies, publishing, organic farms, real estate, health clinics, project management for the chamber of commerce and more.

Teaching English: I have over two years teaching English as a second language. I have my TESOL certificate and I currently have a couple students on an online platform called Preply.

I am extremely passionate about herbalism. I am kind of self taught and make my own medicine in addition to having a medicinal garden and teaching about plant medicine and selling plant starters.

I have experience in caring for farm animals. My daughter and I want to gain more experience in animal care and farm help as well as wildlife and forest conservation.
