Description
Hello everyone !

My name is Adrien. I'm from France (region of Normandy). I'm 25, a fan of endless hikes and passionate by photography. I have a biology and toxicology license. In 2022 and 2023, I traveled alone for 16 months across Ireland, along the Wild Atlantic Way, using WorkAway and Wwoof platforms. Having fallen in love of this way to travel, I intend to start a new adventure in Scotland from April 2025 to October 2025.

Informations about me:
I have a twin brother and I’m used to living with pets. Indeed, we always lived with dogs in my family. At the moment, we have a Leon Berg, beautiful and very big dog ! In addition, this is a list of the different jobs I did in Ireland and at my parent's home : dogsitting, mowing lawn, trimming hedge, gardening, weeding polytunnels, varnishing barricades and beams, watering flowers, sanding floor, cleaning garden sheds, helping to renovate and convert an old barn into cosy cottage, washing dishes, sweeping, cleaning dusty furniture, cooking and other household tasks, .. Moreover, even if I'm not bilingual, not yet, my English improved considerably after my trips in the emerauld island. Finally, I'm totally open and interested to learn new skills, such as they are (working with animals, creating green spaces, contributing to the maintenance / restoration of a place,...) !! By the way, I have my own car to travel !

Why WorkAway ?
To explore our world, to discover new cultures, to increase my knowledges in a lot of fields, and above all, to give of my time to help others while making new encounters, are all reasons why I embarked on this adventure.

I stayed 3 lovely weeks with Catherine and her family in Killarney ! This was awesome !! They have a gorgeous garden with 2 so friendly dogs and 2 horses. The tasks weren't hard, I spent plenty of time to do some gardening like cut and tear off lots of brambles. We were very lucky to have adrien with us. Any job we asked him to do he did it to perfection. We actually think he is a perfectionalist. We did not have to explain the job in detail. He knew what to do. Adrien has a pleasent and honest personality which is very important when you stay in somebody elses home.

A l’intention des amoureux des animaux et, plus particulièrement, de nos compagnons à 4 pattes, le domicile d’Anne et Patrick est fait pour vous et pour cause ! J’ai eu l’occasion de séjourner, durant 4 mois complets, avec eux, ainsi qu’avec Jaime et Josh, leurs enfants, et que dire si ce n’ est que cela fut une expérience incroyable !!

Côté… read more travail : Ma principale mission était de m’occuper de leurs 7 adorables chiens. Oui, oui, 7 chiens, la majorité d’entre eux étant des adoptions / sauvetages : 4 Bichons (Button, Lola, Marta, Scout), 1 Cavalier King Charles (Rosie), 1 Chihuahua (Dante) et 1 Berger Allemand (Koda). Il m’aura fallu une semaine pour mémoriser leur prénom, les reconnaître et m’adapter à eux. Au-delà de les nourrir et de leur faire des câlins, je les promenais, quotidiennement, soit dans Clifden, soit à Omey Island, île accessible en voiture, à marée basse, sur laquelle les chiens pouvaient se promener en totale liberté. Pour le reste, je devais entretenir la maison en effectuant quelques tâches ménagères : cuisiner, balayer, faire la vaisselle, nettoyer la terrasse, ramasser les feuilles mortes, nourrir les oiseaux, allumer le feu, … rien de bien compliqué en soit !

Côté visites / activités : Le comté de Galway regorge, non seulement, de paysages tous plus époustouflants les uns que les autres mais, constitue également, un véritable paradis pour les amateurs de randonnées en pleine nature. De plus, Clifden est une petite ville, nichée aux pieds des Twelve Bens, typiquement irlandaise avec ses pubs, son centre ville coloré et son port de plaisance. Sa proximité avec la Sky Road, l’abbaye de Kylemore, le parc national du Connemara, le Fjord de Killary ou bien encore Roundstone vous permet d’avoir toujours quelque chose, soit à faire, soit à visiter. Enfin, il s’agit d’un comté riche en histoire comme peut en témoigner, entre autre, le mémorial érigé en l’honneur d’Alcock et Brown, deux aviateurs ayant accomplit le premier vol transatlantique en 1919 !

Côte vie de famille : En ayant accepté ma candidature pour que je séjourne chez eux durant une aussi longue période, Anne et Patrick ont, non seulement, contribué à la réalisation de mon rêve qu’était celui de visiter l’Irlande et m’ont, également, permis de vivre une expérience unique : celle d’avoir, sous sa responsabilité, la garde de 7 chiens ! De plus, le couple m’a très rapidement intégré à leur famille, me considérant comme étant un membre à part entière des leurs, et me faisait suffisamment confiance pour me laisser, seul, plusieurs jours durant, lorsqu’ils avaient des rendez-vous à travers le pays. D’autre part, ils ont toujours veillé à ce que je ne manque de rien, étaient reconnaissant de mon travail et m’ont même invité à rester chez eux pour passer les fêtes de fin d’année. Enfin, Anne veillait, fréquemment, à m’apprendre de nouveaux mots et de nouvelles expressions afin d’améliorer mon anglais et d’accroître mes connaissances de la langue de Shakespeare !!

En conclusion, si vous êtes des amoureux des animaux, de la nature, de la vie dans sa simplicité et souhaitez vivre une aventure unique, je ne peux que vous recommander de prendre contact avec la famille d’Anne et de Patrick !!

Anne, Patrick, Josh et Jaime, encore merci de m’avoir accueilli chez vous et, si à l’occasion, vous passez en Normandie, vous êtes les bienvenues !! Au revoir Button, Dante, Koda, Lola, Martha, Rosie et Scout !! A très vite, le mois de Mars arrivant bientôt !!
