Melissa is a warm-hearted and friendly person. She somehow helped out more than she had to, got on with the work and was self-reliant. She was a great fit for us, and maybe she’ll come and visit us again one day. She really got on with everything here and didn’t shy away from anything. See you soon :)

If I could have designed my ideal workaway family, it would have turned out exactly like this. :) Esther and Nico (the parents), their two wonderful children (Jonathan, 4th grade, and Janosch, 8th grade), the four pigs (1. Zora – the smallest, multicolored; 2. Egon – the biggest; 3. Schnuti – with the green ear tag; 4. … read more Noni – the longest resident), the two dogs (Oskar, the bigger one and Laska, with the injured paw) and the countless cats... It was simply perfect!!

I received such a warm and relaxed welcome at the train station in "Salzwedel". Whether it was listening to podcasts while doing enjoyable gardening, feeding the pigs or organizing the kids' rooms—you never have to do anything you don't want to do and you'll often get tasks that you genuinely enjoy. I could choose whether to sleep in the caravan or in the house.
I chose the caravan and I would definitely recommend it. It was clean, very cozy, and modern. On top of that, the sunsets were absolutely stunning from there. At night, you can see the stars and even the Milky Way.
I was also lucky enough to celebrate Esther's birthday with family and friends. We spent hours sitting around the fire pit, chatting and enjoying the evening. Life here feels slower—you live more in the moment and actually have time.

A few tips:
Take the historical walking route or run along the former East German border,
Borrow Esther's bike and cycle to Lake Arendsee (about 8 km),
the neighbors and friends are almost as wonderful as Esther and Nico themselves—I really hope you get to meet them, this region is the most sparsely populated in all of Germany, so everyone knows everyone and everyone greets each other.
Of course everything is vegan and Esther is an amazing cook. Her meals are delicious, healthy, and incredibly varied.
Don't worry—you'll be in the very best hands here. :)

Wenn ich mir meine Wunschfamilie rausschreiben würde, dann wäre sie genau so geworden. :) Esther und Nico (die Eltern), die zwei wundervollen Kinder (Jonathan 4. Klasse, Janosch 8. Klasse), die vier Schweine (1. Zora, kleinste bunt 2. Egon, größter 3. Schnuti, grüne Marke am Ohr 4. Noni, am längsten), die zwei Hunde (Oskar, der größere; Laska , verletzte Pfote) und die zahlreichen Katzen.. Es war einfach perfekt!!

Ich wurde locker und herzlich am Bahnhof in Salzwedel empfangen und abgeholt. Ob Podcasts anhören und dabei coole Gartenarbeit machen, Schweinchen füttern oder Kinderzimmer sortieren..hier musst du nichts tun, was du nicht willst und du bekommst oft genau die Aufgaben, die dir auch Freude bereiten. Ich hatte die Wahl, ob ich lieber im Wohnwagen oder im Haus schlafen will. Ich habe mich für den Wohnwagen entschieden und würde ihn auch weiterempfehlen. Er ist sauber, sehr gemütlich und modern eingerichtet. Außerdem hat man von dort tolle Sonnenuntergänge beobachten können. Nachts sieht man die Sterne und die Milchstraße. Ich hatte das Glück Esthers Geburtstagsparty mitzufeiern. Wir haben lange an der Feuerschale gesessen und geratscht. Man lebt hier mehr im Moment und hat Zeit.
Hier ein paar Tipps: historische Laufroute zur ehemaligen DDR Grenze, Rad von Esther leihen und zum Arendsee radeln (ca. 8 Km), die Nachbarn und Freunde der beiden sind fast so cool wie sie, ich drück euch die Daumen, dass ihr sie kennenlernt, die Gegend ist die am dünn besiedeltste in Deutschland- jeder kennt jeden und jeder grüßt jeden. Natürlich ist alles vegan und Esther kann sehr lecker, abwechslungsreich und gesund kochen. Keine Sorge ihr seid hier einfach in besten Händen. :) Jederzeit wieder!!! Danke für alles.
