hi there!

I'm Melvin 24 years old, and i'm a furniture carpenter based in Utrecht in the Netherlands. I'm currently living in a community wich i really love. I love thinking about deconstructing societal norms and finding different and alternative ways to live together where we can be more in contact with each other instead of focusing on individualsism. Since i grew up more in the countryside closer to nature, this is the thing that i miss the most. Being more in contact with my suroundings and seeing the seasons change by looking at the plants and trees.

the coming summer from july till somewhere in october i will be going on a bike trip from Slovenia to Kosovo together with my girlfriend. For me this is a way of getting to know my roots since my family is from Kosovo. I'm looking forward to seeing the landscape slowly change and gradually getting closer to my origins and getting to know the balkans, the people and the nature.

I'm looking forward to do workaways and learn and explore new things like permaculture, farming, sunstainable living and so on. But i'm really down for anything as long as we can connect. I'm ofcourse also very happy to share my carpentry skills.

Some of the things that i enjoy or find interesting are activism wether it's for climate change or against facism and inequality, for things as queerphobia, palestina, or many other things. i also love climbing, biking, hiking, and anything outside and being active.

I have always worked since I was fourteen. I am now 24. Over the years I have had various jobs and many internships.

I lived with a host family in France for six months, where I helped working in an organic vegetable garden, and I learned a lot from that as I am very interested in biodiversity and climate change.

I worked at a landscaping company where I did a lot of work such as maintenance of gardens, landscaping, placing fences and a lot of pruning.

I did an internship in a hotel in Groningen where I was mainly involved in activities such as changing beds, sanitary cleaning, service in the catering and reception.

I also worked all summer at a campsite in the south of France where I was mainly used for the maintenance of the site, which means lawn mowing, brushcutting, maintaining paths, cleaning the pool and other technical chores.

right now i work as a furniture carpenter for around 3 years, and before that i also worked 2 years in renovations.
