Description
This is my favorite way of travelling. Staying with the locals and helping others. My name is Marie , i am a solo traveler from Quebec, Canada. I am in NZ on a whv for 2 years. I gained a lot of experience being an Au pair and housekeeper in Canada, Australia and NZ. I learned about gardening, child and animal care and living on farms and on a boat.

When I’m not making coffees as a Barista, I seek adventures and alternative living! I like to challenge myself and to live minimally on the road. But the best part of the journey is always the people I meet through workaway.

Zelda and Matthew lives in front of a nice park where I enjoyed taking Merlow for a daily walk. I find the work to be quite easy. Cooking dinners, gardening and keeping the house clean. Zelda showed me her Art Studio where I did various tasks and painting pottery samples and bowls. I felt pretty lucky to learn more about pottery.

Marie spoiled us with great cooking, the best cottage pie I ever tasted. Merlow, our Dog loved her. She always played with him, took him for walks and gave him heaps of belly rubs. Rachael made me feel welcome the second I arrived. I enjoyed visiting another part of Wellington and I felt like part of the family when playing board game in the evening. The work was fair and flexible. I also did some creative home decor which was fulfilling.

Meghan and Chris are really friendly and welcoming! I stayed 4 months and absolutely loved hanging out and helping out. The kids are so so sweet.

Meike and Oliver are amazing. They made sure I was comfortable and it really felt like I was part of the family. I stayed 6 weeks in they lovely house in the middle of the forest ( by the way So Awesome! ) and I always felt welcomed every morning.
I will be forever grateful for this experience. Thank you SO much Meike, Oliver, Emil and Eva.
