Description
Hi! I’m Marcos, a professional from Brazil currently living in Dubai to improve my English. After nearly 20 years of working in the mining industry as a Senior Analyst in Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ), I decided to take a meaningful break to travel, learn, and give back through volunteering.
I am a calm, organized, and reliable person who enjoys a quiet lifestyle. I’m not a fan of late-night parties; instead, I prefer spending my time reading, learning about local history, or helping out with daily tasks. I am a huge animal lover and have been involved in rescuing stray cats back home since 2016.
Why I am here:
I have developed a deep passion for the Middle East—its culture, its landscapes, and its people. My goal is to explore this region while contributing my professional skills and energy to local projects. I am particularly interested in community development or teaching English to youth, but I am happy to help with anything from administration and organization to animal care.
I believe that my maturity and professional background allow me to offer a high level of commitment and responsibility to any host I stay with. I look forward to meeting new people and sharing cultural experiences! -

I am currently living in Dubai, fully dedicated to an semi-intensive English program. My primary goal is to reach a professional level of fluency, and I would love the opportunity to practice with English speakers and other travelers in a real-world environment. Teaching: I am very interested in teaching English to others, especially youth or community members. I enjoy the process of sharing knowledge and can help beginners with grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills. I am patient, organized, and take a structured approach to helping others learn. Learning: Because of my deep passion for the Middle East, I am highly motivated to learn Basic Arabic. I want to be able to communicate respectfully with local communities, learn common greetings, and understand the cultural nuances of the region. I believe that sharing languages is one of the best ways to build bridges between cultures, and I am eager to both contribute my English skills and begin my journey with the Arabic language. -

My key skills include:
Administration & Organization: I am highly proficient in SAP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and Google Sheets. I am comfortable managing schedules, inventory, and general administrative tasks with high accuracy.
Project Management & Logistics: My MBA in Project Management has trained me to be efficient, proactive, and capable of handling complex tasks and logistical challenges.
Health & Safety: I can identify risks and help maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for guests and staff.
Animal Care: I have a long-standing commitment to animal welfare. I am experienced in caring for dogs and have been actively involved in rescuing and rehabilitating stray cats since 2016.
Adaptability & Languages: I am currently an intensive English student, which has helped me become very patient and effective at communicating with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. I am a native Portuguese speaker and am quickly improving my English.
I am a "hands-on" person who is happy to help with daily operational tasks, administrative support, or any area where a responsible and mature set of hands is needed. -

What else ...
When I’m not working or studying, you can usually find me diving into a good documentary or YouTube video about world history and regional cultures. I am fascinated by how different societies have evolved, which is a big part of why I am so drawn to the Middle East.
I also enjoy:
Sports: I’m a big fan of volleyball and soccer (I’m a lifelong supporter of Flamengo!). I always enjoy a friendly match or a good conversation about the latest games.
Quiet Evenings: I generally prefer a calm environment and a good rest over big parties. I’m always happy to share a meal or a quiet evening of conversation with my hosts and fellow travelers.
Animal Welfare: As I mentioned, I’ve been helping rescue stray cats for years. If there are pets or local animals that need a little extra care or attention, I am more than happy to help out.
Cultural Exchange: I love learning about the local way of life. Whether it’s sharing a traditional Brazilian recipe or learning a local custom, I value these small, authentic moments of connection.
I am a tidy, respectful, and easy-going person who values clear communication and a positive atmosphere. I look forward to contributing to your project and sharing some great stories! -

The accommodation is extremely clean, comfortable, and ideally located close to the coast, the port, and amazing museums. The exchange itself is very relaxed with very light help required; we mostly spent Mazin's free time practicing … read more
