  • Description

    I enjoy living with locals, discovering new places and learning new languages.

    I started living abroad as an au pair. Then, I took part in the Erasmus+ programme, which allowed me to live in a Slovakian village for a year. There, we organised extracurricular activities for the village children and teenagers. More recently, I obtained a working holiday visa, which allowed me to discover New Zealand for a year. I used the HelpX website (same principle as Workaway) a lot to help locals for short periods and discover their daily lives.

    * I studied law and I have a master degree.

    * I was au pair several times in different countries :
    - Germany (one year)
    - Austria (one year)
    - Italy (two summers)
    - Greece (two summers)
    - NZ (four months)
    TASKS : homework, light housework, babysitting, teaching French, various in and outdoor activities.

    * I did an European Voluntary Service for one year in Slovakia where I worked with Roma kids (craft, sport, theater, organization of events, cooking classes).

    * Germany
    - I did an internship as a translator (French to German) for a film festival
    - I organized and managed a French-German summer camp
    - I taught French in High School
    - I volunteered for a week-long French-language arts program with young Germans (theater play, dancing and singing)

    * France
    - I worked in preschool where I taught German (2020-2021 ; 2023-2024)
    - I was a cruise ships entertainer on European rivers

    * NZ
    - I worked as a teacher assistant in a French-English School in Auckland
    - Many volunteering positions all over both islands (gardening, painting, home-sitting)

    *Czechia : I visited alternative schools and forest kindergartens where I helped in English and French

    I'm fluent in French, German and English.

    Hobbies : reading, writing, traveling, hiking

    Character : good at managing, tidy, dedicated

    Previous volunteering positions =
    #in France : I helped to make the final touches on a home renovation (construction of a wooden staircase, laying of parquet, tile joints ...)
    #in Spain : I took care of animals (donkeys, dogs, rabbits, chickens), we did some renovation work and we helped with a guesthouse
    #in New Zealand :
    - (veggie) garden : weeding, planting, pruning, mulching, deadheading, potting
    - making trails in the bush and building a stone pathway
    - wood : stacking, cutting, splitting, chopping
    - motor work : brushcutter, mower, chainsaw, tractor
    - painting : outside deck, house walls
    - building : wooden shelves
    - dogs : walking them, feeding them and of course cuddling them

    I will be happy to cook (French) dishes for you.
    I can help in your garden or your home and help with your children.
    I'm interested in ecological lifestyles and I would like to gain building skills.

    More details about my language interests
    Languages are a gateway to other people. I started learning German at primary school, then English at secondary school, and these two languages have enabled me not only to travel, but also to forge strong bonds with local people. I believe that language awareness is important from an early age and that it should be taught in a fun way. It is also essential to be supportive when teaching a language so that learners feel confident enough to practice it, even if they make mistakes at first.
