Description
I am an adventurous, outgoing, kind-hearted, and independent woman with a strong sense of self. I find joy in the outdoors, writing, practicing yoga & stretching, spending time with family and friends, and photography.
My journey starts in Michigan where I was born and raised on the Great Lakes (largest supply of fresh water in the world!) where we take land and water preservation seriously. Spending our summers camping and hanging out around a campfire or on the lake, I developed a strong sense of belonging in nature and the outdoors. With that, a desire to protect and care for the land we live on. I grew up in a vegan household, so this type of dietary restriction is normal to me, but I am also open to eating meat if needed.
I obtained a business degree in Marketing & Management, with a minor in Digital Studies from Grand Valley State University, located in West Michigan. Here, I made friends, worked internships, and learned about myself as I lived away from my family for the first time. Post graduation, I discovered my love for travel!
October-December 2024 I set off on my biggest journey yet, spending a couple months in the beautiful country of Ecuador, where I did my first “WorkAway” experience, and absolutely fell in love with the concept! I spent my time in a quiet coastal town where I worked the reception desk along with being the media and events specialist at a local surf hostel. This allowed me to work on the spanish language, developing my skills immensely. I also made some great friends, one of which I’ve been able to visit in her homeland Germany, which further enriched this already amazing experience.
After returning home to Michigan in January of 2025, I decided I wanted to spend more time away from home, and do something similar to what I had just done. That’s when I learned of working holiday visas, and started to do research. Within the month, I had applied for a WHV in New Zealand and was accepted!! How cool!! Through the year I have had the opportunity to spend time with family and consolidate my life as I prepare for the big move. I arrived to New Zealand in late January, where I set up my life here (bank, tax id, and car), before setting off to my first destination, in the Coromandel Peninsula! While I will be looking for paid work, I am also hoping to supplement my time with volunteer opportunities throughout my time here.
I am a quick learner open to trying new things and dedicated to completing a task well done. I am so excited to see what is to come through this next year! Thanks for your time.
