Description
Helllo,
I am a traveller at heart, but I do, these days, appreciate a stable environment. I am planning my next visit to Melbourne - a city that has surprised me with its overall liveability, culture, and general achievement - a place that I would certainly like to experience more of (I have lived there before). I am a New Zealander, who has recently made the decision to retrain after teaching for 20+ years, and so, after working in design on the side for a long time, I now have a formal qualification, and am going to start looking for work - digitally (mobile) as well as in a conventional office (although the long term plan is to branch out on my own and work remotely). I absolutely love art - design, fine art, music, literature etc... and it makes up the majority of my days at the moment. I play a lot of guitar, and have had periods where I also did a lot of writing. I do also like sports, and have spent a lot of time surfing and/or practicing judo. All of these things quite easily motivate me, and bring me a sense of happiness (teaching also did this, but it was waning in the end) . I am a vegetarian who likes to cook. I also like a good discussion (done respectfully), meeting people, and just generally exploring. I guess there are many other things that motivate me and bring me happiness, but at the moment (and for a long time now), these have been some of the main things in my life. (I found out about workaway when I lived in a big sharehouse (in Melbourne) with a lady who hosted workaway helpers - she has offered to provide a reference if needs be) -

Languages
Languages spoken
Spanish: Intermediate
Japanese: BeginnerMore details about my language interests
I can teach English to the level needed by professionals - doctors, nurses, architects , IT specialists etc who have to pass some very advanced exams to get residency or citizenship. I am happy to teach people English as part of workaway. I could once have a reasonable conversation in Spanish (although in truth, it's probably quite rusty now - my listening is weak). I can understand the basics of Japanese. I would say languages fascinate me - at some point i will do more of them. -

More details about your skills
On a practical level, I am definitely a labourer type - I can work for hours in gardens, painting, heavy lifting etc... I also have a good eye for manual work and building, although I'm not trained (my whole family is this way). I am a 'cleaner' - I like to leave things in order, I can cook and be relied on to run errands etc. On a more professional level, I am a communicator, and I can do design work, and write copy. I am also a very experienced teacher who is very used to being 'put on the spot', which is basically a teacher's life, no matter how well prepared you are. I like to think I can make a decent coffee (but I do realise that is a sensitive issue in Melbourne).

What else ...
To relax, I do like a good coffee, and I particularly like to look around old vintage/curio shops. In fact, anything that has something artistic to offer is of interest to me, - I can spend a lot of time browsing. I read history and biographies when I have time too.
