Looking to meet new people and join in with cooking, baking, music, sewing, carpentry/woodwork, and outdoor projects. Excited to learn and share new skills!

  • Description

This summer, I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Philosophy and Theology. I'm planning to apply for a master's degree in theology beginning September 2026, but during my time away from study, I'm excited to spend a few months working and living with generous and outgoing hosts!
I love to play the piano. Whilst I play all genres of music, some of my favourites include traditional British folk, American/Appalachian folk, soul, country, and blues. I also enjoy woodworking. Recently, I designed and made my own pine wood hat blocks and felt hats for the Venice Carnival which I will attend for the second time this February. In order to make the hats, I've been learning how to sew. After a couple years of practice, I am now able to make my own trousers. Lastly, I love to cook and bake. I've even invented some of my own recipes! I have a huge sweet tooth, so I will look for any excuse to bake and share desserts :)
I am a native English speaker, and I am proficient in French after studying it in school for 7 years. I would really love to become fully fluent. I also know the very basics of Italian, but I'd love to learn more.

I look forward to meeting you!

  • More details about your skills

I have just graduated with an integrated master's degree in Philosophy and Theology from the University of Edinburgh, and I'm looking to apply for a postgraduate master's degree in theology starting September 2026. I love researching Catholicism in particular, and I find Christian iconography and symbolism fascinating.

I'm interested and experienced in woodworking, too. Recently, I designed and made two open crown pine wood hat blocks for me and my friend using upcycled wood planks from a local business in Edinburgh. We are both attending the Venice Carnival this February, so I decided to make our own felt hats and outfits by hand, which requires proficiency in millinery/hatting, sewing, and haberdashery.

I also enjoy cooking and baking. Everything tastes better homemade, and the same applies to desserts. In addition to some family recipes, I have invented my own dishes - my most successful being the 'carrot pie' (a variation on pumpkin pie).

Lastly, I am very well educated in English. I'm capable of teaching the language, including grammar, literature and vocabulary. I have a B2-C1 level of proficiency in French, my biggest weaknesses being flow and vocabulary.
