  • Description

Hi, I’m Bethia - a travel-loving creative from the UK who loves connecting with people, cooking delicious food, gardening and getting involved in meaningful projects.

I’m a singer-songwriter, vocal and songwriting coach with over 20 years of experience in the industry (I play guitar, piano & Cello.) I also have a small handmade jewellery business.

I’ve experienced a lot of adversity in my life, which has made me adaptable, open-minded, and comfortable connecting with people from all walks of life. I’m also neurodivergent, which I see as a strength - it gives me creativity, empathy, and a unique way of seeing the world.

I’m someone who enjoys both community and quiet, I’m enthusiastic and passionate, while also being kind and considerate of the people around me.

✨ 5 interesting things about me
    1. I’ve worked in community and charitable settings: Supporting Ukrainian refugees , working with people with additional needs, mental health and long term illness.

    2. Previously worked in hostels and love meeting people from all over the world

    3. I’m passionate about food (both cooking and eating!), as well as art, music, growing vegetables, animals, and nature.

    4. I’m well travelled, speak fluent English, and Spanish (A1/A2 level) plus a little (very basic 😄) German and Ukrainian - always keen to learn more.

    5. I’m the “short one” in my family at 5’11 (180cm)… so I can definitely reach the high shelves 😄

I try to live with kindness, compassion, and generosity, and I value openness and respect for people from all backgrounds, cultures, and identities.

I’m especially drawn to Workaway experiences where there’s a sense of connection, whether that’s through creativity, nature, or community. I’m travelling to explore new places, meet interesting people, and contribute in a meaningful way - not just pass through.

More details about my language interests
I’m a firm believer that wherever I go, I should make an effort to learn at least some of the local language. I find learning languages fascinating, and I’d really love to continue improving my Spanish and perhaps learn some Catalan too (my sister lives in Barcelona, and I hope to move there one day!). I’m also very happy to help others with English if that’s useful, and I have some informal experience doing this.

  • What else ...

After overcoming some significant health challenges, I’m now in a place where I really want to explore, experience more of life, and reconnect with the wider world. It feels like the right time to travel, meet new people, and be part of different communities again.

I’m very considerate of the spaces I’m in and the people around me - I like to keep things respectful and easy to live in.
I’m not obsessively tidy, but I’m very respectful of shared spaces and always make sure to clean up after myself.
I’m quite intuitive and emotionally aware, and I really value open, honest communication. I’m not someone who brings drama, and I tend to handle things in a thoughtful, grounded way.

I’m also very easy-going when it comes to living arrangements - I don’t need much to be comfortable and tend to adapt easily.
Mostly, I just enjoy contributing to a space in a positive, supportive way.
