  • Description

We’re Brettt and Kiana — an adventurous, grounded, and capable couple from the Reno–Tahoe area who feel most alive when we’re learning, exploring, and connecting with people and place.

Travel for us isn’t about checking boxes — it’s about meaningful cultural exchange, shared meals, stories, nature, and contributing in ways that truly help. We’re both physically fit, hardworking, and genuinely enjoy staying active and being outdoors. Whether it’s gardening, building projects, animal care, land stewardship, or helping with daily tasks, we’re happy to jump in wherever we’re needed.

Brettt is a professional boat captain with a fun disposition and years of hands-on experience. He’s calm under pressure, practical, and great with people, a performance artist, a nature guide, and anything involving water sports. His gift is his ability to just be in the moment and embody a child-like curiosity.

Kiana is a bodyworker and intuitive healer with a background in wellness, care work, and creating supportive environments. She brings a nurturing presence, strong communication skills, and experience in hospitality-style settings where attention to detail and emotional intelligence matter. She’s also happy helping with cooking, organizing, gardening, or guest support. In addition to traveling, she loves attending Ecstaic dance, Kirtan and other embodiment practices. She is aligned to the teachings of Sri Aurobindo.

Together, we’re respectful, adaptable, and easy to live with. We value clear communication, shared purpose, and being part of a team. We’re especially drawn to opportunities that allow us to connect with local culture, history, art, and the natural world — farms, eco-projects, community spaces, retreat centers, and family-run homesteads all feel aligned.

We travel with open minds, good energy, and a sincere desire to contribute more than we take. We’re excited to learn from you, share our skills, and be part of something meaningful during our stay.

Brettt is a U.S. Coast Guard–certified captain who has guided tours in both Alaska and Lake Tahoe, bringing strong leadership, safety awareness, and a calm, capable presence in dynamic environments. He is trained as a first responder with emergency response experience, making him someone others naturally feel safe around.

In addition to his maritime background, Brettt studied art at Sierra Nevada College, which gives him a creative eye and appreciation for beauty, design, and culture. He is also a certified yoga instructor and is skilled in Thai massage, blending physical awareness, mindfulness, and a grounded, supportive approach when working with others.

Kiana brings a unique blend of structure, professionalism, and heart-centered wellness experience. She served five years in the U.S. Navy, where she developed discipline, teamwork, and the ability to stay steady and reliable in a wide range of environments. She later spent eight years in tech sales and recruiting, giving her strong communication skills, organization, and the ability to work well with many different personalities.

Since 2009, Kiana has been devoted to the wellness field. She is a certified holistic nutrition practitioner, yoga instructor, Ayurvedic health educator, and licensed massage therapist with training in Thai massage. Her work is rooted in helping people feel supported, balanced, and at ease, and she brings a calm, nurturing presence to shared spaces.

She has also studied herbalism and plant-based traditions, and has a deep love for working with the land. Gardening, permaculture principles, and natural/earthen building methods are areas she is passionate about learning more about and contributing to whenever possible.

Kiana is comfortable in both structured and creative environments, happy to help with cooking, hosting, organizing, land care, or any task that supports the overall harmony of a home, retreat center, or farm.
