  • Description

    Fun, thoughtful and practical. love to learn by doing and can find passion in whatever I turn my hand to. Aside from project management that is, the job I’m leaving :D

    I enjoy many things such a exploring, foraging, making things, making a difference, music and meeting people.

    Through my recent work on farms in b&b's and at animal shelter I have gained experience in;

    Caring for and harvesting veggies - I would like the opportunity to learn about permaculture and biological farming as the farms I have worked on to date have been in the very early and experimental stages.

    Tree planting

    Growing mushrooms

    Stone work - I made a duck pond from recovered stone

    Animal care - I have helped care for hens, horses, cats and dogs.

    Basic joinery - Have made furniture from pallets, a frame for a sink, some drawers and currently I'm making storage space for my boyfriends van.

    Painting - exterior and interior

    Cleaning hotel rooms

    Caring for nervous and disabled dogs, administering medication, bathing and treating wounds.

    Before joining workaway I held project management, policy and secretarial jobs so have experience in planning and organising, risk management, problem solving, working under pressure, managing different personalities, self starting, motivating a team and more.
    During that time I also worked part time as a kitchen Porter and carpenters assistant renovating a shop basement and peoples homes so am used to quickly adapting and working dynamically.

    Helping to renovate the shop basement gave me the confidence to renovate my grandmothers house alone and through these projects I gained experience in basic woodwork, tiling, fitting plasterboard, cement work, lighting circuits, plastering, wallpapering and painting.

    Quotes from colleagues;

    “Resourceful and creative – will find a way to make something work”

    “ Very able to carry out a number of tasks in a short space of time. This is a real skill that not everyone has”

    “Exemplary dedication to doing the right thing for people “

    “Proactive and intelligent – always up for talking things through and exploring the detail/meaning/consequences/synergies”

    “Feedback from colleagues in our Branch and in the wider Division more widely is that you are effective, efficient, cool under pressure and always ready to offer help. We value the way you take every opportunity to understand more about the policy area, and apply that learning at the next opportunity. In addition, I want to commend the way you approach a task: you always consider how best to tackle it; you think ‘outside the box’ and you reflect on what we want to achieve. The overriding conclusion is that you are smart, agile and independent thinking”

    “Dedication and perseverance (e.g. encouraging team to change style of comms with the public to more empathic and helpful, upskilling new members of staff, the videos – learning how to use the hardware/software, carrying on even when things are difficult. From your work this year, it’s obvious that you care and really make an effort to do the best you can”

    I've looked after children of all ages and ran arts and crafts workshops, I find it easy to be one of the kids, nuturing, or even stern if thats preferred. Together we made den's, played football, painted, modelled, pressed flowers and climbed trees :)

    I’ve lived alone/w flat mates since 16 so am proficient at cooking, cleaning, housework and sorting out household issues. I really enjoy cooking and have plenty vegetarian, vegan and meat/fish based meals under my belt that I can share.

    I can ice-skate, rollerblade, skateboard (not very well) and am learning to mix on DDJ’s. Would love to share what I know and where the opportunity presents itself, learn to surf, ski, snowboard, sail and mix vinyl.
