Travelling
Description
Ever since I can remember I've wanted to travel the world-- and fortunately, through the encouragement of my friends and family as well as my hard-earned savings, I've gotten to fulfill a bit of those dreams! My first time abroad was on an exchange to Germany in my first year of high school, and after that, I lived in Italy when I was 18, hitchhiked/couchsurfed around several European countries, did my first Workaway in Costa Rica, studied abroad in Australia, and explored a bit of South East Asia.
I absolutely love having the chance to immerse myself in so many different cultures, adventure through many kinds of places, and meet all the amazing people in the world. I love participating in these kinds of work and travel opportunities because it's such a great way to genuinely integrate yourself into a culture and feel like you're part of the local community, rather than just staying in hotels and taking guided tours everywhere. While it may work for some people, I have never been one for the typical tourist experience and much prefer getting a more legitimate adventure by interacting with locals, staying or living with them, getting to see their favorite hole-in-the-wall kinds of places, and so on. Not only is it an amazing way to be immersed in wherever you are, but it also concretes unique, meaningful relationships with the people you meet along the way!
The ocean is my first and forever love-- I'm always trying to be in or at least near the water. I've been surfing off and on since I was about ten years old so I'm very avid about being on a board as much as possible, and have experience scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, and even a little bit of sailing when I was younger. I'm also very passionate about environmental conservation and social reform, hence my Bachelor's degree in anthropology. I've worked a multitude of different jobs, from nannying to canvassing for grassroots organizations to working in ice cream shops and at wilderness camps, which have given me a wide and random set of skills that hopefully will come in use!
My hobbies include but aren't limited to surfing, biking, backpacking, yoga, drawing, cooking, meditation, and writing. I'm a giving, open-minded, caring, fun person who loves to help others and have experiences out of my comfort zone, and constantly strives to better myself and the world.Interests
