We are currently in South Thailand and are planning to travel towards Malaysia in the coming months. On our way, we would love to stay for one or two weeks to support a project.

Description
We are Karin (36) from Austria and Hannah (33) from Italy (South Tyrol). For the past 10+ years we have been living in Vienna, where we studied and worked in different fields. In recent years, Karin studied botany and worked as a study assistant to the Vice Dean, while Hannah worked in subtitling for film and television alongside attending film school.
For what felt like forever, we talked about going on a long adventure together — and last summer, we finally decided it was time to pack our bags. After giving up our apartment and letting go of most of our belongings, we began our journey in India, exploring the Northeast for the first three months. We are currently in southern Thailand.
We love the freedom that comes with travelling, but we also want to use this time to grow and learn new skills. That’s why WorkAway feels like the perfect next step. Karin already has experience with WorkAway, for Hannah it will be the first time, and she is very excited to get started.
We are both practical, creative, and quick learners. We enjoy physical work and are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Gardening, simple construction work, painting, organizing, cleaning, helping with renovations — we are happy to support wherever help is needed.
We especially enjoy building and repairing things. (We firmly believe you should always try to fix something yourself before replacing it.) In Vienna, we loved shaping our home with our own hands. We designed and built several pieces of furniture ourselves, including for our balcony, where we also created a small urban garden. We both enjoy working with and learning about plants; Karin especially loves medicinal plants. We would love to learn more about sustainable gardening and growing food in a thoughtful, long-term way. We are also very interested in natural building, especially working with clay and learning how to build mud houses.
Karin previously worked as a teacher (English, physical education, geography, music, and IT). She speaks German (native), English, and Spanish, having spent extended periods traveling in South America. Hannah speaks German (native), English, and Italian (a bit rusty). Through film school, she developed a background in filmmaking and editing and has some experience in project management. We are both confident with computers and enjoy learning new tools and skills independently.
We love being outdoors — hiking, camping, snorkeling, and exploring nature. We once walked the South West Coast Path in England for three weeks with a tent, which was an unforgettable experience.
Family means a lot to us. We spend much time with our nieces and nephews, playing and being present in their lives. At the same time, we also appreciate calm moments, reading in a hammock or sharing a good conversation over coffee. We both practice mindfulness and are interested in personal growth.
We are motivated, reliable, and ready to contribute our time and skills and are equally curious to learn from you, your projects, and your way of life.

Karin is an easy house guest. She is quiet thoughtful and a calm low maintenance kind of person. She is an organised person and worked competently on her own. She mostly dug up bushes with a hoe helping reclaim untouched scrub land. It was hard hot work on dry ground. She… read more
