I am a Canadian-American backpacking South America for 6-8 months. I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and most recently lived in Washington D.C., where I worked in international development. After losing my job due to U.S. government funding cuts, I decided to work at a restaurant, save money, and travel. So here I am! I love hiking, knitting, and getting to know people from different cultural backgrounds. I also love spending time with animals and generally being in nature.

I have experience gardening, taking care of dogs and cats, riding horses, cooking, and waitressing. Professionally I have supported and managed multimillion dollar development projects, so my organization and communication skills are excellent. Connecting with locals while traveling brings me lots of joy. It is often hard to get off the tourist track while staying in hostels, so I want to use volunteering as a means to connect more directly with the local people and culture.
