  • Description

    Hello! I’m Ionut.

My name is Ionut, a 37 years old British-Romanian professional in search of...myself I guess.

I am trying to find a way to escape the every day life and find peace through discovering a new better me.

I have always had an artistic side, though never got to discover it, about time I do so.

    Why I’m on Workaway:
I’m currently navigating a bit of a transition in my personal life.
Rather than staying in my routine, I want to push my boundaries, meet people who see the world differently, and contribute my skills to projects that matter. I believe the best way to "find yourself" is often through helping others and learning something new in the process.

What I bring to the table:

    Technical Skills:
I am a UK qualified electrician, though I have not practiced professionally in years.
I have extensive experience in the construction industry as well as my own projects.

Professionalism: My background in finance means I’m organized, reliable, and a strong communicator.
I might tell my opinion on different things, don't take it personal, it is my problem solver mentality.

Spirit: I’m a huge fan of the outdoors and find a lot of peace in nature. I’ve recently developed a curiosity for art—I’m no Picasso, in fact I have not practiced any since school, but I’m eager to learn or help with creative projects!

    The After-Hours:
I’m a passionate whisky enthusiast and flavour chaser in general, whether it's food or drink, I am very open to trying new things.
I love the history and craft behind any local and I’m always happy to share a glass and a good conversation at the end of a hard day's work.

Apart from art, I do appreciate craft, from brewing to distillation, to shoemaking, woodworking, forging to traditional crafts.

I’m looking for a host where we can exchange not just labour for a bed, but knowledge, life skills, and maybe a few laughs along the way.

I am flexible with my schedule since I can work remotely, and typically only need 2-3 hours per day with internet access.

  • What else ...

    Interests & Hobbies
    The "Maker" Mindset:
I’ve reached a point where I want my hands to be busier than my thumbs. While I used to spend a lot of time gaming, to withdraw I fuess, I’m intentionally steering away from the digital world to focus on the physical. I have a deep fascination with craftsmanship. I’m drawn to anything that involves raw materials—woodworking, metalwork, and even the finer details of leatherworking or shoemaking. I find the process of creating something tangible incredibly grounding. If you have a workshop or a project that requires patience and a steady hand, I’d love to get involved (and learn from you!).

    Social & Games:
I’m a big fan of the classics. As a kid, I spent hours playing chess, table tennis, and billiard. I’m definitely out of practice, but I’d love to dust off those skills. I find a game of chess is one of the best ways to get to know someone without saying a word.

    The Great Outdoors:
Nature is my reset button. I love the thrill of off-roading and the challenge of navigating tough terrain, but I’m just as happy with a quiet hike or simply sitting by a fire. I’m looking to spend as much time outside as possible during this trip.

In short: I’m a "recovering" gamer looking for sawdust, fresh air, a bit of healthy competition, and genuine conversation.
