  • Description

Hi, I'm Havva and I'm currently on a gap year before going to study Zoology!

I'm passionate about animals (especially reptiles and marine animals) so I'm driven to work with them as much as I can.
I also enjoy work that involves conserving the environment and I'm interested to learn more about projects for sustainability in other countries.

It's my greatest aspiration to have a career in wild animal research. This is part of the reason I chose to do a gap year - to travel and hopefully see more species than I would in England.

I like working in a team, since I'm quite sociable I easily get along with others and I love to meet new people. But I'm just as capable of working independently - with this gap year I'm trying to expand my independence further.

In my free time I love to be outdoors walking my 2 dogs in the woods and photographing the wildlife. I love to learn as much about the nature around me as I can through books and animal documentaries on YouTube.

I'm so excited to learn about and experience cultures that are new to me.

More details about my language interests
I'm definitely interested in different languages - I'm currently learning Turkish (I'm at the A1 level) and I intend to start learning Polish soon! Specifically these languages because I have family in Cyprus and Poland and I'd love to connect with them more. It means any progress I make with these languages is very rewarding for me, and I'm excited to practice them. :) I'm also happy to talk to and help anyone with learning English, since it's my first language.

  • More details about your skills

I spent 5 years volunteering on a farm, caring for a range of animals including cows, sheep, goats & chickens, so I've got quite a good experience handling animals (and mucking out their pens). I'm very comfortable with manual work outdoors.

As well as domestic animals, I have a month experience caring for wild animals at a wildlife rehabilitation centre in North Cyprus!

I've also spent time gardening with my family, harvesting fruits and making jams, weeding and caring for plants.

I also like to bake and cook, especially bread and soups; i'm working to improve my skills in cooking with new recipes.

Although a lot of my skill is to do with animal care, I have a strong work ethic and i'm excited to learn new skills!
