Hello, I'm Harriet (or "Harri") from Cornwall in the UK. Plants, people and food bring me joy. I'm driven by spiritual growth, authentic intercultural exchange, developing new skills, and learning how to live more meaningfully according to the rhythms and wisdom of nature. I'm an ethnobotanical researcher who studies so-called "forgotten" and "neglected" traditional crops, working to conserve and revitalise them together with farmers, scientists, cooks, historians, artists and others. I'm looking for volunteering opportunities in South America, through which I can:

1) Further develop my practical skills in regenerative agriculture / permaculture
2) Connect with and learn from and support people living locally
3) Improve my Spanish and learn indigenous languages
5) Get to know local plants - particularly traditional varieties - and local food
6) Deepen my relationship to plants as living beings and more widely to Mother nature.
7) Disconnect from the digital world and get stuck into some proper physical work
8) Re-ignite my creativity

Hola, soy Harriet (o "Harri") de Cornualles, Reino Unido. Las plantas, la gente y la comida me llenan de alegría. Me motiva el crecimiento espiritual, el intercambio intercultural auténtico, el desarrollo de nuevas habilidades, y aprender a vivir con más sentido, en sintonía con los ritmos y la sabiduría de la naturaleza. Soy investigadora etnobotánica y trabajo con cultivos tradicionales considerados "olvidados" y "descuidados", para conservarlos y revitalizarlos junto con agricultores, científicos, chefs, historiadores, artistas y otros. Busco oportunidades de voluntariado en Sudamérica para:

1) Desarrollar mis habilidades prácticas en agricultura regenerativa/permacultura
2) Conectar con, aprender de y apoyar a la gente local
3) Mejorar mi español y aprender lenguas indígenas
5) Aprender sobre plantas locales, en particular sobre las variedades tradicionales, y la comida local
6) Profundizar mi relación con las plantas como seres vivos y, en general, con la Madre Naturaleza.
7) Desconectarme del mundo digital y dedicarme al trabajo físico.
8) Reavivar mi creatividad.

I am hardworking, dynamic, creative and resourceful.

- I have basic agricultural skills - sowing, raising seedlings, mulching and composting, general cultivation, pruning etc. - that I'm keen to develop further. Less experience raising animals but I would love to learn more. With a little guidance I could work well independently on agricultural tasks.
- I understand the world of seed banking and can help procure as well as help develop strategies to conserve traditional and rare crop varieties.
- I love cooking. I have worked in restaurant kitchens as well as in community kitchens preparing meals for up to 100 people at a time. I would love to learn how to cook confidently on a fire.
- I have experience in art and design. I can paint signs, design posters and - depending on the vision - could be convinced to do murals (although I would want to do this kind of work alongside agricultural work, because it is that which I am most driven to develop). I take good photographs and always travel with my camera. I can take photographs for you of your farm or project.

- Tengo conocimientos básicos de agricultura (siembra, cultivo de plántulas, acolchado y compostaje, cultivo en general, poda, etc.) que me gustaría seguir desarrollando. Tengo menos experiencia en la cría de animales, pero me encantaría aprender más. Con un poco de orientación, podría trabajar bien de forma independiente en tareas agrícolas.
- Entiendo el mundo de los bancos de semillas y puedo ayudar a conseguir - y desarrollar estrategias para conservar - variedades de cultivos tradicionales y poco comunes.
- Me encanta cocinar. He trabajado en cocinas de restaurantes y en comedores comunitarios preparando comidas para hasta 100 personas a la vez. Me encantaría aprender a cocinar con confianza en el fuego.
- Tengo experiencia en arte y diseño. Puedo pintar letreros, diseñar carteles y, dependiendo de la visión, podría hacer murales (aunque me gustaría realizar este tipo de trabajo junto con la agricultura, porque la agricultura es la que más me motiva). Saco buenas fotos y siempre viajo con mi camera. Puedo sacar fotos de tu granja o proyecto para que las puedas usar.
