  • Description

    Hello!
My name is Genki Minobe. I'm 22 years old, born in Tokyo and raised in Kyoto, Japan. I graduated from the university this year, and my job is illustrator who draws people and livings around the world.

I’m now in Chile for my first working holiday. Nov. 2025: I did 2 volunteers in Chile, construction of house and a hostel.
The reason why I chose the country is a little unique. Chile is so far from Japan, so I used to know only that it’s a long country. But one day I realised that I could explore myself staying and learning in the country which has a lot of mystery. After that I started to research about Chile’s history, culture and nature. Now, I’m more and more interested in Chile. I always love to explore and report the places known not so much, so I want Japanese people to know about livings in Chile through my artworks.

I have studied Spanish for one year, and I’ve got A2 level of DELE, the official exam of Spanish government. I can understand easy conversation and talk about myself. But of course I still need to study more. So I will study hard and would be grateful if you teach me some Spanish.

I love to communicate with local people using local language while traveling. I have ever traveled 11 countries: UK, USA, Italy, China, Thai, Vietnam, Singapore and etc. This year I visited Sri Lanka, the hometown of my colleague of convenience store. I experienced so many local cultures including food, nature, house, sport, music, work and religious; Yes, I’m interested in everything. The family welcomed me calling “Japan son”. I had wonderful time with my lovely family in Sri Lanka.

In Japan, I have mother, father, one younger sister and three dogs in my family. I miss them so much! I want to talk with them about my memory in Chile when I go back to Japan.

I have worked in convenience store for 2 years in Japan. The location was close to the university, so we had a lot of exchange students customers from all over the world. I used not only Japanese but also English to serve them. I made some friends from overseas countries talking with them in English.
We had many things to do there, so I worked hard to remember them at first. After that, I enjoyed the work with my colleagues from various countries.

I studied art and design at the university for 4 years. Especially, I’m interested in illustration, picture book, manga, and photography. I have drawn pictures for over 20 years, and it’s my job now. For example, I have made a package illustration of coffee and a poster of health campaign. I’m going to draw illustrations and manga about livings and cultures in Chile this year.

If I can work with you, I can decorate common space with my colour pencil drawings or make illustrations for visual promotion.
