    Description

    Hello dear helpers,

I'm Michel, 57y/o, 3 gown-up kids, engineer background. I'm hosting travelers for several years and had good experience with it.

I live in a small village - Dongelberg - in a cozy old "farm house". There is plenty of space, a nice backyard with a hamac, ping-pong table, molky, bbcue, greenhouse and a big garden (fruits and crops).

This is a really quiet place. You will hear and see a lot of birds and be far away from large cities.

Being a small village, you'll need to use public transportation or other ways to reach bigger cities but Belgium is a small country so daytrip would be easy. The area is nice for walks. The closest grocery shop is 2km away /20min walk -5 min bycycle, there is also a pharmacy, a hairdresser, a post bank, a restaurant.. in that same lot (Incourt).

We are 20min away by car from Louvain-la-Neuve and 30min from Brussel. We are about 30min away from the train station of Gembloux or Tienen.

I mostly need help gardening, housekeeping and maintenance in the House. If you're able to do more technical jobs such as paint, small repairs or such things i can surely find stuff to do

Depending on the season, your abilities and interests, there is plenty of things that can be done!

    Here is a non-exhaustive list:

    - Gardening : Watering the large garden and greenhouse - that can take up to an hour every day if the season is really dry, weeding all the garden areas (there are 5), harvesting when needed, mowing, trimming trees, planting some seeds, clean the outside with high pressure water... or anything else you can think of!

    - Outside tasks: Help with outside work - building construction such as chicken house or garden shelter... depending on your interests and capabilities and current project.

    - Housekeeping : cleaning the house, vacuuming, moping the floors, clean the bathroom, washing machine, clean the windows, ironing... (Sewing if you can!)

    - Kitchen : Help with grocery shopping, cooking, dishes...

    - Maintaining the House: painting, some small repairs (depending on your skills)

I am expecting 3 hours of daily help (20hrs/week) per night stayed with food for all the meals.

In exchange, you will have your own room (there are 3 available) (sink in every room) and access to living room (TV) kitchen, laundry,... unlimited wifi, food, and nice company! I'm not picky on the hour, as a I just want a fair exchange. You could do more one day and less another day, depending on your plans. As long as we both find a mutual interest :)

I am more looking for a sharing experience than a "worker". You can expect long conversations and debate about the world (if you are up to it!)
I've an engineer academic background and spent spent 30+y in the polymer industry. I'm now a freelance consultant for this market part time and also run my own small creative/artistic activity ()

I speak French, Italian, English fluently. I also speak Flemish and some German.

I might not always be available and you might have to "work" on your own sometimes. However I will be available for any question and help you would need.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any question!

If you are interested, I will give you the exact address and my phone number so we can organize your stay. Be sure to let me know if you have a special diet. I have none but my consumption of meat/fish is very low.

I am looking forward to meet you

    Michel.
