Hello!

We’re Elli and Giorgio, currently on a big adventure across Asia. Amid all the fun and chaos of travelling, there are times when we seek to get off the beaten track and sink into something a bit deeper - a project, culture, or place. We chose Workaway as our way to do exactly that.

Hi, I'm Elli! I studied Philosophy and currently work as a Policy Advisor in the UK Civil Service, now on a career break. I’m passionate about meaningful change and am eager to bring my research, writing, and critical thinking skills to support you however I can.

English Teacher:
I have volunteered to teach English to disadvantaged Vietnamese children through a non-profit organisation. I can confidently create engaging lesson plans, manage a classroom, and naturally build strong rapport with students of all ages.

Hospitality: I have 5 years experience as a Barista — a job I absolutely loved and miss. I’m confident making coffee and enjoy teaching others how to do the same.

And I'm Giorgio. I've bounced around a lot, developing skills in a wide range of different areas. Here is a quick rundown:

Advertising and Digital Marketing:
After finishing my degree in marketing, I have spent the past two years as a paid media specialist. In short; I help businesses (both big and small) optimise their paid-online strategy to get the best bang for their buck! Think Google ads, Meta Ads, SEO and much more.

Volunteering:
I have previously volunteered in Moshi, Tanzania. Through a school initiative, I spent three weeks renovating classrooms in a disadvantaged community. My responsibilities involved plastering, painting and bricklaying. Although I did not directly teach, I used my free time to set up impromptu afterschool football tournaments with the school kids and other volunteers.

Chef:
Worked at a tapas restaurant as a Chef de Partie for one year during my studies. I loved this job and frequently took charge of managing the kitchen for extended periods. My favourite part was the ability to creatively alter the menu to the seasons — and that's not even mentioning the rush of a 12-hour shift!

We bring different skills to the table, and together make a great team. During our travels, we’ve supported local restaurants and hostels through photography and posters, digital presence optimisations and a baking lesson or two. We’re always happy to share what we know and to learn from others along the way.

What else ...

Elli:
I like to stay active and be in the outdoors as much as possible, whether that be running, climbing, cycling, taking a stroll or gardening. I enjoy reading and drawing and love to cook and bake especially for others, which brings me a lot of joy.

Giorgio:
My hobbies are almost as varied as my work experience! I am a big advocate of staying active and the importance this has on our physical and mental health. During my active time I usually pick between a few of my favourite activities; climbing, running, hiking or calisthenics. Outside of staying active I am a big fan of 60-80s rock and often play the guitar to unwind. I also have a good amount of graphic design experience, albeit at a hobbyist level!

Cooking and photography is a joint passion of ours. We love animals and have 3 cats. Our dream is to have our own land where we can care for animals, and grow the food we eat. We are looking for farm stays to learn more about this!
