  • Description

Hi there! We are a couple of friends that met on the Camino de Santiago in 2025. Eigil is 25, from Copenhagen, Denmark and Elisa is 24, from Austin, Texas. We are exploring options to Workaway in Australia together and would love to combine our skills to help others and expand, both socially and culturally.

I’m Elisa and I am currently working as a barista in Texas! I recently graduated from University with a Bachelor’s degree in social work. Amidst this post-grad period of transition, I have decided to use my privilege of time as an opportunity to travel and explore the world! I recently walked the entire Camino Frances, where I met Eigil, and am excited to meet more people as I travel. I'm open to new experiences and I love learning and connecting with others. I’m excited for the possibility of connecting with you!

My name is Eigil and I am a newly educated prehistoric archaeologist looking for a new adventure in my gap year. I have always loved history and societies throughout different time periods. I'm going to take my masters in prehistoric archaeology this september but before I do that I want to see some of the world.
I am a chill guy who loves drinking good coffee and hanging with even better friends. I relax by reading a lot of fantasy and sci-fi books - preferably with a cup of coffee;) Other than that I love the outdoors - hiking, the nature, the animals, cooking in the wild. I also love being active whether it's going for a run or doing something practical with my hands. Other than that I love good conversations with good people. I recently spend 6 weeks in Spain on the Camino which gave me many good conversations I'm grateful for.
I like meeting new people and see myself as an open guy. I'm curious about people and believe everybody can teach you something. Me and my friends often play boardgames together which - even though it can get heated - is one of my favourite activities:) I personally think I'm funny - I'll let you decide that;) - and try to always bring a good vibe to people.
In my previous gap years I had a lot of different jobs where I learned a lot. Some were practical - gardening and minor repairs in a public school - and others were more people oriented - during COVID I helped people follow the recommendations and also worked in a kindergarten. Therefore I have a lot of different experiences with whatever you may need help with.
I can speak and write danish and english. I'm working on improving my french but I believe I can hold simple conversations;)

  • More details about your skills

    Hi!
Through different jobs I acquired some different skills. I have some experience working with young kids as I worked in a kindergarten for six months. I love being around small kids as they are full of energy and curiosity. Also they give me an excuse for playing around;) I also have two nephews and a niece so I know how to be around small kids. Through this job I also learned how to structure activities around kids and make them engaged while still listening to their needs and wants.
I did six months as a gardener where I took care of bigger trees. This includes pruning, watering and working with big machines. This was a lot of fun and very educational as I've never worked with machines at that scale before. I also had to be very independent and learned that as a skill as well.
Other than this I was a janitor once at a public school. Here I worked with another janitor where we took care of the school. This included minor repairs and generel upkeep of the place but also the communication with professional craftsmen. So I can switch a lightbulb and have some experience dealing with IT-systems.

Elisa here! With a background in social work, my experience is mostly in social services, which I'd argue apply to any kind of work :) I've worked with diverse populations and have lots of experience working with kids of all ages so if you need help with kiddos, I'm here! I also have experience with various kinds of outdoor manual labor such as gardening, land clearing/general land maintenance, landscaping, etc. I am also pretty handy around the house when it comes to maintenance and enjoy cleaning and cooking. I am a fast learner and am happy to meet you where you're at and help you with whatever task is at hand.
