Description
Hi! I’m Edina, a 23-year-old primary school teacher from Germany, and I am traveling together with my boyfriend Norwin. (He will add his own personal introduction below, but I’ll start with a bit about myself)
My big goal for our travels is to experience different cultures, lifestyles, and religions firsthand. I want to bring those real-world stories back to my classroom in the future so I can teach my students with an open heart and mind.
I’d describe myself as a true all-rounder—open-minded, energetic, and always ready to learn something new. Whether it’s getting my hands dirty, being creative, or working with people, I’m always all in!
Some more facts about me:
Kids & Volunteering 👧🚒
As you can tell from my job, I absolutely love working and connecting with kids! Back home, I’m a volunteer with the THW (the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief). Besides being an active responder, I work as a youth leader, organizing activities and teaching teamwork to kids.
Farm Life & Green Thumbs 🚜🌱
My dad is a farmer (just agriculture, no animals) and since I was a little girl i helped my dad out with the daily work now and then.
I’d love to expand my knowledge about non-commercial fruit and vegetable farming, as my big dream is to have my own veggie garden one day
Animal Lover 🐶🐔
Animals have always been a huge part of my life. We’ve always had multiple dogs at home, my aunt had two horses, and growing up in a village means I'm used to being around cows, chickens and other animals. (Oh, and by the way: the dog in my profile picture belongs to Norwin’s aunt, but she is just too adorable not to share)
Creativity 🎨🌸
I'm an artsy person who likes painting and different kinds of crafts. I'm always absolutely open to try something new.
Outdoor & Camping 🏞️🥾
I absolutely enjoy being out in nature! Whether it’s going for hikes to explore new landscapes or packing up a tent for a camping trip, I’m always happiest under the open sky.
Service Experience 🍽️
During my four years at university, I worked part-time as a waitress and service staff member in a restaurant with an attached hotel. Because of this, I'm very used interacting with guests, and know what it takes to keep a place clean, organized, and welcoming!
Hello, I’m Norwin (23). Since Edina has already written such a great introduction, it’s a bit of a challenge to keep up, but I’ll give it my best.
I grew up in a very active and travel-oriented family, spending most of my holidays exploring different parts of the world. Both of my parents are rescue divers, so I was introduced to water rescue and scuba diving at a very young age.
After finishing school, I joined the German military and served four years in a mountain infantry battalion. I really enjoyed the physically demanding outdoor work, especially in beautiful landscapes. At the same time, I also gained plenty of practical experience with everyday tasks and teamwork, which are things that come with being a grunt.
After my service, I returned to education and recently completed my A-levels. As part of my studies in the social field, I trained for half a year as a nursing assistant and spent another half year working at an elementary school. These experiences taught me patience, responsibility, and how to work well with different kinds of people.
When I’m not staying with Edina, I live in a large family household with my parents, cousins, and extended family — plus our dog, who you can see in the pictures.
In my free time, I enjoy sports, especially outdoor activities, and trying new things. Recently, I started training in Historical European Martial Arts. I’m also very interested in history, politics, and philosophy which connects to my love for reading. And, to be honest, I’m a bit of a fantasy nerd — I’ve probably spent too much time (and money) painting miniature figures, as well as playing with them.
Some fun facts:
I am immune to the smell of garlic.
I despise "Kassenbandtrenner".
I am a very happy person, but for no clear reason at all, I like dark melancholic music and art.
Overall, I would describe myself as an all-rounder: active, reliable, curious, and easy to get along with. I enjoy learning new skills and contributing wherever I can. -
