  • Description

I love nature and anything active or outdoors, having spent most holidays growing up hiking I am always keen to get out and smell the fresh air. I am also a keen worker and will very happily spend all day in the sun digging, building or anything else that needs doing. I have many creative hobbies such as wood turning, needle felting and carving; I will always manage to find interest in any topic I engage in conversation with. I am often looking to share some of my skills with others and am happy to teach slacklining, juggling and other basic circus skills. I am keen to learn new things and experience different cultures.

  • More details about your skills

I am a happy and enthusiastic worker who prefers to keep working till the job is done. I have worked as a handyman / gardener / manual worker for almost 3 years now and have learned loads of useful skills in that time. I worked on a 32 acre privately owned piece of land where I did everything from; using a mini digger to level a dry lake bed (to be relined), laying the foundations and building a small log cabin, loads of cutting grass and trimming trees, dismantling old buildings, some animal work (horses, alpacas, pygmy goats, angora goats, chickens, ducks, pigs and wallabies), machinery maintenance and use, fence making and repairing, shed building, outdoor plumbing, general maintenance and repairs and may other manual skills you could expect to use on 32 acres.
I also have some experience with indoor low skill trades work and am always wanting to expand my skill bank by following and helping.
I worked as an activity instructor at a school residential which I found to be an incredibly rewarding experience. I volunteered at a charity setting up school allotments before that, where I was working directly with children trying to engage them in permaculture.
I have taught a couple of circus workshops and enjoy watching people developing skills they previously thought were unachievable.
I am a hobbyist woodworker and have developed many skills within the trade which I have put to use at work, such as building a new staircase and balustrading for a viewing platform, and new doors and gates.
I recently obtained my chainsaw qualification for crosscutting and maintenance (not felling)
I am enough of a perfectionist to always work to the best of my ability whilst simultaneously being as efficient and resourceful as possible with time and materials.
I am incredibly keen to learn new skills by following and helping out. I work well directly under someone's control and will follow your lead if need be but am also incredibly comfortable being pointed at a job and left to get on with it my own way. I am also able to lead if I am the most experienced.
Whatever the job I am given, I will always work to be proud of what I have done and will always try to enjoy the work as best I can, whether that is with others or just on my own.

  • What else ...

I am looking to travel, meet people and explore new places but need some kind of focus and work to not feel like I'm wasting my days. I always have a deck of cards and a set of juggling balls to hand, and never turn down the offer of a game.
