    About Alejandro
    Hello dear reader!
I have a background as Environmental Engineer and I used to work in projects related with water management, providing workshops for different communities in Colombia, while also developing hydrology maps based on satellite images, but for the last few years I've been dedicated to travel and learning. Exposing myself to new experiences has allowed me to expand my view about society, culture and wellness. I truly enjoy having the chance to share and learn with others. The feeling of doing meaningful work brings me joy.

From 2021 to 2022, I lived in an ashram, where I was head of kitchen, and in my spare time I also volunteered in the orchard. In there I did a 200 hour formation as Hatha Yoga Instructor. Since then, I've been practicing yoga and sharing it with the people around me. It's very fun and somehow, it has brought me more awareness about my body and its connections with the mind and the emotions. I like to pass experiences through the body, that's why, beside yoga, I like to practice sports, play basketball, swimming, cycling, hiking, slackline, play frisbee, etc.

From 2018-2022, I've been working for seasons as a tour guide between Colombia and Panama, doing speedboat trips from Capurganá to Panama City and vice-verse. In there, I used to prepare the trips (4 days, 3 nights), entertain and cook for the people, while also working with a diverse team of other guides and volunteers.

I like to think that everything is possible, it's a matter of embracing the opportunities of the choices we made and trying to do them with love, passion, intelligence, etc (Other positive adjectives could be added to this list). That being said, I like to try new things, no matter if I never done them before, but among the things I've done in the past, I have some experience cooking, working in crops (I lived for a year in my grandfathers farm , taking care of coffee and cacao plantations), yoga teaching and gardening. I'm also an English Teacher. I teach English Online as a part time job, but I'll be taking a break between August and September and I would like to invest this time volunteering and traveling while I'm in Europe.

    About Dubi
For over a one and a half year I worked at the University of Zurich, where I was working in Science Communication. Before completing my studies I worked for over 10 years in restaurants. That's when I learned to talk to customers, to communicate with people that do not speak the same language as me and to live on a small budget, things that I appreciate now. I realised that one of my best qualities is that I always see work. Maybe you are familiar with people that stand around until you tell them what work needs to be done.. I'm the other way around.. I kind of see what is left to do and I don't wait for others to do it. Even in my free time, people are always so shocked when I tell them what I did during the day, the overwhelmed by the amount.

If I would need to describe myself in a short way, I would say I'm a person that is very excited about learning new things. I'm crazy curious, I want to understand everything to the bottom, and acquire as much new skills as possible. I have my little projects that I take care of, in a very reliable way and I love to help friends, family and foreigners whenever I can.
However, if I do something, I want to be efficient otherwise I feel like I am wasting time. It's the same with travelling. So many people visit foreign countries but stay in their touristic cloud. I want to be a part of the society of the country I'm visiting or in other words get close to people's lives in other parts of the world.

One of my passions is dancing. Especially dancing salsa and bachata. I want to visit the city where dancing vibrates in all corners and learn from the best. That's why I'm going to Cali.

At the same time I also enjoy to relax and chill. I'm a very easy-going person, that can talk with anyone, about anything. I give every person a chance, without making any pre-assumptions about the individual, and decide afterwards if I want to spend more time with them or not. But I'm always open to new people that have a different perspective in life. You can learn so much from them. Also people tend to describe me as "cool", whatever is supposed to be meant by that haha.

About my volunteering activity, I volunteered in different student organisations. I organised with 13 other students a 4-days event in the mountains with 400 participants. That's when I realised how little sleep I actually need, slept like 5 hours in 4 days. I also brew beer in a brewing association, from Lager, Amber, IPA, Porter, Stout... everything. I was the head of the brew-tasting event, so I can talk a lot about beer :)
I also volunteered at a lot of music festivals, where I learned to build up stages. This I enjoyed a lot as it combines my two passions, music and helping.
During traveling I worked for 6 weeks in a hostel in Medellin, Colombia and 2 weeks in Bocas del Toro Panamá, 2 weeks in Palomino. My job included work at the reception, cleaning, I build a bench, bartending and smalltalking with guests :)

I'm also a Yoga instructor so let me know if you are looking for an instructor in your hostel.
