My name is Derek D, ! I am a free and loving spirit who loves to see new places and meet new people. I am always working on strengthening ways to cultivate peace and compassion in my life and share with others...

I have over 15 years of experience in the hospitality and food service industry and have dedicated the past 5 years with a focus on nonprofit and humanitarian aid work. I have worked over 11 projects with All Hands and Hearts Disaster Relief Organization and more recently have been helping to run a small non-profit called Compassion Kitchens that works to support food-insecure children throughout Colombia.

My last employment was as a special needs culinary teacher in New Jersey at a Public High School and I have many years of experience working with children in a variety of roles. This was a beautiful experience but extremely challenging and stressful job the past years and I am now taking this year to travel, explore, and enjoy!

I have a lot of experience with community living and equal respect to all cultures. I love meeting people from all walks of life and sharing smiles and languages!

I think it's super important to have meaning and purpose in my work and life and i love to be around others who have a focused on trying to spread love in the world. I also really love the practice yoga, meditation, and many of the healing arts which has made a profound positive impact In my life. I have completed multiple yoga teacher trainings and certified 500YT. I am always looking for ways to deepen and fortify the abundance of yoga practices in my life.

I also love the Spanish language and have been lived in Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico the for over 3 years out the past 6. At this point my Spanish is at an intermediate-advanced level and i would really like to continue to learn and improve. I can help in anyway with translating if needed. I am happy to provide references and resume upon request.
