  • Description

Hello! My name is Denis, I'm 25 and I was born in Moldova but I grew up in Dublin. I'm planning a bike-packing/wild-camping trip through most of Europe, and I hope to do plenty of workaway stays along the way. I'd love to do a range of different types of stays in order to learn new skills and meet all sorts of people! Due to the nature of the trip I'm sort of racing against the next winter so I will probably not be able to stay in one place for longer than a week or two - but I'm flexible, especially if the experience is particularly interesting or rewarding!

As you may already be able to tell I love the outdoors:) I go on weekend cycling, camping or hiking trips every chance I get. I'm also a big environmentalist so I try my best to reduce my carbon footprint; whether that's being extremely mindful about what I purchase, eating a vegetarian diet or choosing not to drive. I love animals and try my best to treat them as well as I treat humans. I've always had a keen interest in sustainability and self-sufficiency so permaculture and eco-projects are something I'd definitely be up for! I studied Fine Art and I'm also very passionate about photography, cinema, music, design, and culture in general. I went interrailing a few times so I have been all over a lot of Europe, also living in Prague and Barcelona. I'm hoping by going on this trip I can experience a different side of the continent outside of the major cities!

I love fresh vegan/vegetarian food and prepare all of my own meals although I don't have much experience cooking for more than 2 or 3 people I'm happy to try. I also brew really good homemade Kombucha!

  • More details about your skills

I studied a Bachelor of Fine Art Media degree in Dublin as well as in Prague with a focus on photography, print media, internet culture and aesthetics. I founded, chief-edited, and graphic designed a print art magazine called Emerge (you can check it out on Instagram: @emergeart.ie) during covid lockdown as a way for less established artists to have their work seen. I'm also super interested in cinema and I ran both of the university Film Societies at NCAD in Dublin and UMPRUM in Prague. My dad operates a small construction and renovations company so I help him out during the summers and most recently we built a sauna in his back garden so I am reasonably skilled with tools and manual labour in general. I love working with wood so it would be great to develop that skill. I have also worked a few years bartending at the Guinness Visitor Centre (stereotypical, I know) and at the Teeling Whiskey Distillery so I am well-versed in customer service and meeting people from all over the world which has really helped me understand and appreciate different cultures!
