  • Description

We are a Belgian couple travelling with our backpack from Brussels and our goal is to reach Nepal without using the plane. We want to do hiking in the mountains and spend a lot of time in the nature.

We both speak English and French, Spanish for Colin and a bit of Dutch for Maud.

From Brussels to Nepal, in each country, we would like to help people in their day-to-day live such as farming, cooking, guesthouses, animal caring. Learning everything we can, from gardening to cooking but also new way of thinking.

We hope to find inspiration with this travel, new way of living to bring back home. So when we come back home, we change our job for something more meaningful, both for us and for the future.

We love hiking in the mountains, we have all the equipment to sleep in a tent. In each country we cross, we help people in their day-to-day life such as farming, cooking, guesthouses or hotel. Since march 2026, we did 3 volunteering projects.
    - 1 month in an avocado farm in Türkiye (Taurus Mountain Farm) where we helped in the field and behind the computer redefining the strategy of the farm. What we truly loved was the contact with Kadir the farm manager, we started discussing with him with google traduction and at the end we could speak English with him thanks to our little lessons we gave hime every night!
    - 2 weeks in an organic vegetables farm in Georgia (Odashifarm), we planted all the semi for the coming year, weeded and took care of their 2 years old girl. We both have niece and nephew in Belgium, we love contact with children even though she could not speak nor understand English.
    - 2 weeks in an hostel in Georgia (Karma Hostel), run by international people, Maud cooked for 15 to 30 guests with a chef and Colin took care of the vegetable garden and some cleaning.
    - 2 weeks in a summer camp in Uzbekistan (Happy Summer Camp) to give English lessons and speak with the kids

Maud Wicart, I’m 29 from Belgium. I worked in sustainability for 5 years in Brussels, I helped the cultural sector to reduce their impact on the planet and to improve their social accessibility. From 8 to 20 years old, I was a “scout”, it’s a big community in Belgium, children spend their weekends in the nature with young adults taking care of them. At 17 years old I became a troup leader with a group of friends. We created games in the nature. And each year for 2 weeks during, we organized summer camps, with a theme, some incredibles games with costumes, singing every night by the fire. Since then, I have a really good contact with children. I also love to cook, it's one of my favorite activities, almost like meditation for me. At home or in the volunteering farm in which we volunteered in Antalya Türkiye, I create dishes for others every night.

Colin Royer, 34 years old from Belgium. After my studies in Bioengineering, I went travelling to South America where I did a lot of volunteering in hostels - cleaning, gardening, etc. Back in Belgium and during my PhD in Marine Biology, I worked in a cafe where I handled the bar and service. I'm good at talking with people, entertaining them as they enjoy a beer or food and giving them advice. I also taught students marine biology classes and workshop. Back in Belgium, I had a small vegetable garden. I would love to learn farming skills to create maybe one day a farm in Belgium. I also worked for the Brussels Region and focus on implementing urban agriculture in some neighbourhoods such as composting or urban gardening.
