Hi, I'm back at 'headquarters' for the summer, not 'home', I'm eager to point out, as home is always wherever I am and take my enthusiasm, positive energy and love for this world and its people.

Description

This is Claudia, volunteer, world citizen, responsible traveler, English&Italian teacher and translator.

I would be honoured to offer my tiny contribution to valuable projects. I am hard working and versatile, and available for any tasks, from teaching (my main qualification and experience) to house chores and cooking (it might be hard to believe, but I enjoy cleaning and tidying), and community service. Volunteering is, to me, a way of being. Life has taught me that giving is gaining, and that what’s around you is not outside of you. I have an environmental spirit, reaching out (not so much humanitarianism) makes me feel whole, I possess the most unwavering faith in good vibes and positive people, and I look at the world as full of wonders and endless discoveries. I believe cultural exchange to be the most enriching life experience there is.

I truly hope to find hosts that are not age prejudiced, rather realise that 50-year olds are a largely underestimated resource. Unfortunately, prejudice always manages to find new outlets, age included.

I have a degree in languages from the University of Toronto, and have been teaching English (to all ages, summer camps included), doing translation work (websites, etc.), and editing academic papers for over 30 years. I am Italian, therefore, I can cook, and take excellent care of the house and garden. I also have an aesthetic eye for furnishing and decorating, and I am quite good at creative DIY. I am an extremely sociable and extrovert person, and have had training in intercultural relational skills. I am very well traveled and feel at easy in any social setting; I am 100% adaptable with regards to both living and working requirements.

I love walking and hiking, but I am also addicted to the seaside and could spend whole days in the sun and water. I am an avid reader, and I enjoy playing cards and board games. I am keen on organising all sorts of activities, trips and excursions, theme dinners and parties, etc. I actually have much more fun organising than doing. I have a great interest in meditation, sound healing, group therapy, and all that aims at making us better people. I also love DIY and have an aesthetic eye for decorating. But most of all, I love what I have yet to try!
