  • Description

    Hello!

My name is Charlotte, I am 28 years old and I am from England. I grew up in London and have lived in Bristol for a number of years. I have a large family with 4 younger brothers (the youngest just turned 13!) so I am a big sister who is very used to being around young children in a busy family home.

I am caring, compassionate, patient and an adventurer at heart. This has lead me on some incredible journeys in my life, including Au Pairing on a farm in Australia (where I cared for a baby kangaroo!), caring for rescue cats in Mexico, living with and teaching English to a family in Madrid and many other adventures!

I have a Masters in Children and Families Social Work and also a degree in Geography. I am passionate about children, animals and the environment. I have extensive experience working with children and many volunteering experiences with animals. This work has shown me the value of patience, curiosity, resilience and kindness.

I was a Social Worker (trabajadora social) for 5 years in England, working with ages 0-18. For the past year, I have been working as a nanny, with babies age 9 months - 2 years. I have also worked as a Youth Worker, waitress and completed various farm jobs whilst travelling in Australia.

I have been on an immense personal journey in my life that has created a commitment to hobbies such as: hiking, walking, wild swimming in rivers and lakes, yoga, reading, gardening and dancing salsa. My newest goal is to become fluent in Spanish so that I can eventually travel to Mexico and South America for a prolonged period of time. Here I would like to 'slow-travel' and integrate with communities, sharing knowledge, language and our love of the Earth.

Currently, I am enrolled as an Auxiliar de Conversación in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid. Here I support the students with their English and I am contracted to work 16 hours per week. I would like to live somewhere in/around Madrid where I can access the school and the city. In exchange I can provide support with English learning (I have completed my TEFL course and have experience teaching English), childcare and any additional tasks around the home or garden.

  • More details about your skills

TEACHING: I have experience teaching English to children from the age of 4 to 18. I also have some experience teaching adults. I am passionate about the English language and communicate clearly, matching the teaching to the level of the student. I am visual learner so I like to keep the teaching interesting, with lots of activities. I believe we learn best when we are engaged, having fun and being encouraged to be brave and give things a go! I am a qualified TEFL teacher and am gaining experience all the time whilst working in a secondary school in Colmenar Viejo.

HOUSEWORK: I am very clean, tidy and respectful in a home. I am happy to support with daily tasks such as hoovering, sweeping, cleaning the bathroom, weekly food shops and general cleaning or tidying. I also am very experienced with deep-cleaning and I love organisation projects! I also love cooking!

GARDENING: I have experience gardening through my own garden and also sharing an allotment space with my friend in Bristol. I am a hard worker and have worked on farms in Australia so I am comfortable with manual labour and I am proactive and positive when working.

CHILDCARE: With 5 years experience as a Children and Families Social Worker, I have worked with all ages of children. I have been an Au Pair for 3 months in Australia where I cared for three children, ages 2, 6 and 13. The eldest child had a diagnosis of Autism and I was able to adapt my caregiving to ensure she was supported to develop her social skills. The family was based in rural Australia on a farm. I also recently Au Paired for a family with 3 children in Getafe, Madrid. Here I provided childcare, play and teaching in English.

    Please note:
    - I have an extensive Police background check both in the UK and in Spain.
    - I have a clean driver's licence and can drive automatic and manual.
    - I have no allergies or dietary requirements.
