Description
Ever since I was young, I’ve felt a deep connection to the environment and a growing urgency to protect it. However, it was my Father's cognitive decline due to dementia from an early age that lead me to escape into nature and through being surrounded by nothing except my own thoughts I was able to navigate this grief. Sadly seeing the effects of pollution and climate change on these beautiful places inspired me to pursue a future as an environmental lawyer with me conducting my studies in July. of 2026 as I believe that everyone deserves the mental clarity and emotional release that nature provided me. As a result, I hope to deepen my knowledge surrounding a circular economy which minimises waste, permaculture farming and the education of communities surrounding practical methods of garbage disposal and the far reaching implications of plastic pollution. I am also passionate about holistic therapies and alternative medicines which was reinforced during my travels in China and am currently practicing vinyasa yoga and breath work. In my spare time back home I enjoy surfing, camping, hiking, playing volleyball and basketball with friends and anything that gets me outside and moving :)

More details about your skills
I initially started working from the age of 13 to save for this trip initially as a shop assistant and a delivery boy on my bicycle for my local pharmacy until I could get my first job at 15 at a family based Italian Restaurant where I worked as a waiter before becoming the head after 2 years where my role involved training my fellow staff members, mitigating conflicts and ensuring swift delivery, takeaway and dine in times. Through this I gained experience In time management and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of individuals. I left this role to pursue my Instructor certification at home before gaining a job in the Canadian Rockies at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort where I predominantly taught beginners and children allowing me to identify and solve problems in their techniques whilst maintaining their confidence and providing them with an enjoyable experience. Following my time in Canada, me and my friend started a gardening company in our local area using word of mouth advertising and social media to raise the money for my future trip. Currently, I am preparing a fundraiser for frontotemporal dementia which my Dad had, where I will be hiking from Sydney to Newcastle. Through using my personal and friends social media following's as outreach aswell as sourcing multiple news interviews and sponsors, I hope to raise 30,000 to fund critical research in diagnosing and offering treatment for this rare disease. The fundraiser has taught me project management and marketing skills in the business and media world whilst increasing my communication abilities.

What else ...
Outside of volunteering, I’m happiest when I’m around people, whether that’s sharing a card game or playing team sports. I love cricket and volleyball for the laughs and sense of belonging they create, and I enjoy card games for the connection that happen around the table. Both remind me how simple activities can bring people together, break down barriers, and create moments of joy.
