  • Description

    Hi future host!

    I’m Camille, a 26-year-old French woman!

    A little bit about myself!
I come from a family of five, I’m the oldest of three daughters, and I live in Tours, a city located in the Loire Valley. This region is famous for its wineries and its multitude of famous castles like Chambord, Chenonceau, and Villandry.

My two biggest passions since I was a child are history and archaeology, but I’m interested in a lot of different things. I like art, nature, animals, but what I like most is trying an dicovering new things. It could be food, places or even sports. During my spare time, I love to cook, to read, go for a walk, go to the film theatre, play games, travel or visit historical sites.
I could describe myself as a curious, talkative, outgoing, and social person. I love to meet new people!

For the past years, I worked as a cultural mediator in museums and arts centres, where I ran educational workshops and gave guided tours of exhibitions to various audiences, from school groups to adults with special needs. I love this job because I get to meet and talk to different people every day. The access to art and culture, and making everyone feel welcome in cultural spaces, is something very important to me, and why I chose this career.

It is my first time on the platform and applying to do a workaway, since I first learnt about it last year when I came to Ireland for a few days. One of the girls in my hostel just arrived in Ireland to do one, and I thought, « What a great way to discover a country and its culture! » And now here I am!
I visited Dublin and its surroundings last year for a week on the advice of a friend, and I completely fell in love. But in the same way that you don’t know France just because you’ve been to Paris, I can’t say I know Ireland just because I’ve been to Dublin. That’s why I want to learn about Irish culture and discover more about Ireland, and working there is the perfect way to do so.

More details about my language interests
My level of English is pretty good, I can speak almost fluently and I understand almost everything (Level C1). But I don't have the opportunity to practise with real people that much, so I'm limited to music, movies, TV shows, and books; that's why I would love topractisee my English with native speakers! I'm also open to learning new languages like Irish or whatever other languages you can speak! I would also love to teach you some French if you want to!

  • More details about your skills

I have a wide range of skills, including housework like cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry, as well as taking care of the kids, playing with them, creating activities for them (outdoor or more artistic), or reading stories. During my job as a cultural mediator, I used to work a lot with children, creating manual activities appropriate for their ages and making sure they were entertained. Also, I used to babysit my neighbour’s daughters, and I still do for younger members of my family.
I could also do some gardening, and I love animals, so it would be a pleasure to take care of some. I happen to pet-sit a lot for my friends’ cats, and some of them have special needs, like taking medication or needing more attention and presence during the day.
I am a quick learner, so whatever tasks you assign me, I will be delighted to carry them out.
