Description
Hi! We are Hasan and Aygül. 🌿
We are a couple from Turkey who have been following a path of nature, sustainability, learning, and sharing since 2008. What started as a simple dream — growing our own food, living closer to nature, and learning from plants — has gradually become the way we choose to live.
We are passionate about medicinal and aromatic plants, natural food production, ecological living, and creating simple solutions that respect the earth. We enjoy working with our hands, learning from different cultures, and sharing the knowledge and experience we have collected along the way.
Our journey has always been based on experience. Over the years, we traveled and worked on different farms and campsites, learning from the land and from the people we met. We also studied Medicinal and Aromatic Plants at Balıkesir University. In 2010, we had the opportunity to learn about permaculture from Bill Mollison and Geoff Lawton in Istanbul — an experience that deeply influenced our understanding of sustainable living.
In 2019, we created our own small production workshop, where we produced more than 120 different natural products until we closed it at the end of 2024. Our work included natural cosmetics, medicinal plant preparations, and natural foods. We also completed training in natural cosmetics and branding in 2020.
For us, sustainability is not only a profession — it is a lifestyle. Over the years, we have explored and practiced medicinal plants, permaculture, zero-waste living, non-toxic cosmetics and cleaning products, ecological construction, and sustainable tourism. We always try to bring what we learn into our daily lives.
At the end of 2024, we decided to begin a new chapter. We closed our workshop and started a journey through South America to visit farms, ecological projects, and communities with similar values. Recently, we started traveling with our campervan, creating a small home on wheels that allows us to move slowly, discover new places, connect with people, and experience different ways of living more closely.
We have been in South America for some time now and would love to continue discovering this beautiful continent. We are currently looking for both volunteering opportunities and paid positions where we can contribute our experience while continuing to learn.
We are especially interested in farms, gardens, medicinal and aromatic plants, natural product making, ecological construction, sustainable tourism, and community projects. At the same time, we are open to new experiences and happy to help wherever our skills and energy can be useful.
We are hardworking, curious, and adaptable people. We bring many years of experience, but we also come with open hearts and minds, knowing that every place and every person has something new to teach us.
For us, Workaway is not just an exchange of work for accommodation. It is about sharing daily life, cooking together, exchanging stories and skills, becoming part of a community, and creating meaningful connections along the way.
