Description
Blake: Born and raised in Australia, I've developed a deep passion and appreciation for the natural world. I hold a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Wildlife & Conservation Biology) and have devoted the last 10 years of my life working and volunteering in conservation and restoration projects, as well as in nature campaigning and advocacy roles. I work relentlessly to protect Australia's endangered species from various threats, like habitat destruction.
I've volunteered in projects aboard - spending one month at a wildlife rescue/rehabilitation center in the Ecuadorian Amazon and one month as an environmental research assistant in the Peruvian Amazon.
Pilar: Like a typical Portuguese, the travel bug runs deep in my veins and no matter where I am, the sun and the sea are sure to make me feel at home. I love animals, music, spending time with loved ones and reading.
Traveling means the world to me, truly - it's when I feel most alive! Our planet is so beautiful and the more I see of it, the more I cherish it and want to contribute to its protection. I've been lucky enough to see many different parts of the world, namely through taking part in volunteering projects.
We're very environmentally conscious in the way we live our lives, exercising a sustainable approach where possible. We're very open-minded and respectful towards others. -

More details about your skills
Blake:
I hold a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Wildlife & Conservation Biology). I have great skills and experience in plant and animal identification, animal handling and animal husbandry.
For my work I regularly exercise gardening and landscaping techniques including brushcutting, handweeding, chainsawing, pruning, raking and mulching.
I'm very comfortable working autonomously or in a group setting.
I speak English and am learning to speak Portuguese.
Pilar:
Work experience: I had several jobs throughout my studies. My experiences in retail include having worked as a waiter at a restaurant, but also as a shop assistant at a store selling accessories. Later on, I acquired some experience in the education realm as well, having worked as a Live Streaming Technician at an Institute providing higher education courses to adults, but also as an instructor of English as a second language at a primary school.
After graduating from my master's program in International Business, I worked at a corporate bank and at a tech startup.
Volunteering experiences: I took part in 2 EVS (European Voluntary Service) projects in Croatia and Poland when I was 18 years old; one project was environment-focused whereas the other aimed to intervene culturally and in the social integration of underprivileged groups. More recently (2025), I have done several workaways/wwoofings in Australia. From tending to animals' needs at an animal sanctuary, to weeding and whipper-snipping at hobby farms; from cleaning and gardening at rural BnBs to clearing out creekbeds and repairing paths at a festival site, all these experiences have been of great value to me. -
