Description

We are José & Beatriz, a Portuguese couple enlightened by the idea of exploring new places, meeting people from different cultures, and learning new skills through real experiences. Traveling gives us a sense of freedom and Workaway is the perfect way for us to combine both: having different experiences while discovering the world in a meaningful way.

What motivates us most is the opportunity to live simple, authentic experiences: sharing moments with hosts and travellers, contributing with our work, and growing as individuals. We love feeling part of a community, even if it’s just for a short time. Beatriz already have done Workaway in Albania with a friend, and always talked very kindly about it, so we are very excited about doing it during our backpackers in Central America.

To answer the question about happiness, we think it is in the small things: good conversations, good people, sunsets, nature, discovering a new city, or learning something we never tried before. We really enjoy being active, learning by doing, and staying open to whatever each place has to teach us.

José is perfect for practical tasks: if it involves physical work, fixing things, or making Excel spreadsheets behave, he’s your man. He’s responsible, reliable, and completes every task like the corporate boy he claims to be. It’s funnier than it sounds, because in reality he's not that serious—I just enjoy painting him that way.

Beatriz lives in the digital world: marketing, social media, and everything in between. She has experience working in hostels, can teach yoga or Pilates, loves hiking, enjoys a good dinner with friends, and is basically up for anything as long as it sounds like an adventure.

Together, we’re also masters of house tasks like cleaning, laundry, reception, and socialising (especially that last one—we take it very seriously).

As a duo, we’re flexible, hardworking, and always ready to jump into new projects: whether it’s tourism, hospitality, agriculture, or even animal care (we love dogs). Our experiences living abroad, volunteering, and working have turned us into adaptable team players who tackle challenges with a big smile.
